Religion is such a poorly defined word, Buddhism is considered a religion, it does not oppress scientific thinking. The problem is when people build philosophy's around what they term an "objective truth" when in reality it is a subjective opinion. This is how power is achieved.
There is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. If there were then they wouldn't be a Muslim.
Ask any Muslim these questions and see how they answer. (These are slightly modified from Daniel Pipes list)
1) Do you believe that apostasy should mean death as the quran states? 2) Do you believe that it should be illegal to insult the prophet muhammed? 3) Do you seek to transform infidel countries into majority-Muslim countries ruled by Islamic law? 4) Were Muslims responsible for 911 suicide hijackings? 5) Do you think Muslim women should be able to marry non-Muslim men? 6) Is jihad, meaning a form of warfare, acceptable in today's world? 7) Do you think all other religions have just as much a right to exist as Islam? 8) Should non-Muslims enjoy completely equal civil rights with Muslims, in Muslim countries? 9) Do you accept the laws of a majority non-Muslim government and unreservedly pledge allegiance to that government? 10) Are Sufis and Shi'ites fully legitimate Muslims?
Make sure you hold them to the same standards as you do a Christian for being moderate. See how many really are moderate.
Why is this such a big deal, I mean linux is good for many things, and it's strength is that people take it in a million different directions at once. A desktop OS to be sucessful, can really only go in one direction. If say for instance the open source community were to decide to "force" everything to go in one direction (not saying this is possible) then linux would no longer be linux, so to speak. Point is, linux is good for somethings and not others...besides we have windows and OSX for the desktop, isn't that enough?
Actually the company I work for, is a very large company that uses lotus notes. Many of us just use the browser version since only one person can use the native client per computer. This means that any OS that can run a browser can run lotus notes easily.
The only problem here is that you would have to make the elevator extend far beyond Earth's gravity for this to work....I got an idea! lest just attach it to the moon to keep it in place.
Geothermal would be an excellent source. Where there is great pressure (core of the earth) there is a good amount of heat. And we all know how easily heat is to convert to electricity (steam engines turning generators). The only problem here is drilling deep enough to utalize the heat. However if this problem were solved you would have an almost indefinate source of power. All you really need to do is to beef up the grid with things like this, then you can "refine"? hydrogen from water or various other souces. The last step is to build cars to combine oxygen with the hydrogen thus recreating the water and you have a perfectly renewable source of power forever that is 100% environmentally friendly.
I don't believe that the laser pointer being dangerous is the issue they are taking here. It is the fact that missles can follow a laser pointer to a target. Now I think the possibility of someone having a missle with these capabilitys are pretty slim, however it still could happen. That being said, rockets arent exactly a new technology anymore and the electronics needed to apply this technology are pretty easy to come by as well. Terrorists are capable of getting plenty of funding to build such devices and the knowlege is easily attainable. Sound far fetched? Perhaps, but the possibility is still great enough to take the risk seriously.
Michael Moore distortes reality to promote his Extreme loony left ideals. You can take any documentary he has made and pick it apart scene by scene. One example was his first scene in BFC where he goes into a bank opens an account, and walkes out with a double barrel. First of all there were no working guns at the bank, they were all displays. Second he had to wait a few weeks to get his gun, although you would sure never know it the way he edited it. Michael Moore hates America through George Bush, open your eyes.
1.) Things are sparking and arking 2.) The power is shut off 3.) It only happens when people are around
It may seem far fetched but couldn't this be some sort of directed energy weapon perhaps in the form of microwaves. Devices like this are known to exist and could probably be mounted in a satellite in orbit. Of course if this theory was correct then only about 5 nations in the world would be capable of such a thing...Why would they pick some little village in Italy?? Oh well next theory...
If someone writes a language from raw binary or from a language they already have a patent on then software patents make sence. How can you create an algorithm out of someone elses building blocks and call it your own? Whats next, Patents on lego structures?

You are correct. If you look at them, you will notice that they are mechanical in nature and not Aliens. The biggest clue giving this away would be their jealousy toward the human race. A true Alien race would think themselfs superior.

Why would SCO admit that the e-mail was authentic?
This is past the point of ridiculous. It's amazing to see a company acting like a bratty toddler. Sco is losing more and more credibility by the day.

What better charity then a non profit orginization who makes one of the best Free OS's ever made.
