On the latest episode of VGM Daily we talked with Pierre Paul Trepanier, of Nintendo Canada about the naming...

    He gives his response here:

  2. How'd he do it?! on Staring Down a Revolution: Questions for Sid Karin · · Score: 1, Funny

What on earth does Sid Karin have to do with Nintendo?

A better question would be is how did he get information about the Revolution?? This guy must have some great contacts!

Keep in mind that "Brand separation" like lexus/toyota, or Honda/Acura splits are only done in North America.. where people seem to be picky about their brands for some strange reason.

Europeans are more than happy to be driving around in a Honda RSX, or a Toyota IS300...

I just don't think that having Nokia attached to the console would hurt the sales in the least.. if anything it backs it up as a good product seeing as how Nokia phones are the top sellers over there... I think the assumptions here are false.

  4. Semi-Off-topic question on GTK+ TTY Port · · Score: 2, Insightful

Hey... I've never really heard of this aalib stuff before, and I followed a bunch of links to a site for MPlayer, and it was playing DVD's in ascii...

Is there any players for win32 that will play using the aalib codec?? I would love to see this in action, but don't have linux installed on my laptop!

    Help??

  5. I don't know.. on Yahoo Experimenting with Blogs? · · Score: 3, Insightful

    Blogs can serve a purpose..
Some people on here are just ranting about how the personal experiences, or "dear diary" type of blogs are just flooding the internet, and are completely devoid of any interesting, or entertaining thought. Well, that may be true.. and I'm sure Yahoo! blogs will foster this kind of thing even more (because of easy access, and a large user base), but there are certain blogs out there that are useful, and serve a purpose.

Take my blog for instance (no I'm not linking it..). I created it by using one of those bloggin' apps (pmachine I think..), created my own stylesheet, etc.. So for 1 it looks original. But aside from that, I use it as a way to communicate to my friends and family. I'm away from home (toronto) for the next several months on business in Costa Rica. I don't get to call home that much, and writing emails is tedious to 20+ people, so I update my blog on a daily (heh, okay a few times a week) basis. They reply to me in comments, and it's working out quite well.

So who says they can't be useful?

  6. This reminds me... on EA and NVIDIA in Alliance · · Score: 5, Insightful

Read this this-morning on CNet avantgo...
Anyone remember those 3dfx emblazened boxes about 5 years ago? First they get they're own graphics language (reminds me of Glide), and now they start working with companies to program for the chips they make?? For some reason I think Nvidia is being just a BIT too influenced from 3dfx.. it's like they're repeating all the mistakes!

"Nvidia: The way it's meant to be played" ... pfft.. yeah, the cards are good, but honestly!

  7. This should be alright...as long.. on Sun Launches Instant Messaging Server · · Score: 3, Informative

I work at a major corporation, and we use "Lotus Sametime" as our messenging client. At first I was put off by the lack of features (ie. timestamping, etc..) but it has interoperability with AIM, so I find it quite nice to use.

As long as Sun goes with something like AOL compatibility for outside-the-intranet communication, they should be sitting pretty. Why would this even be necessary? Well the obvious is chatting with friends/family - without having to install a secondary client - but, also I know in my company we deal with outside agencies and businesses, and its much easier being able to IM them, than to send emails, or phone.

We've got two version of the trailer up.

They're in WMV format, and we have a highbandwidth one @ 18megs, and a lowbandwidth one @ ~3 megs.

Come over to VGM Fusion to get it, and hey, while you're there, why don't you take a look around the site a bit. :)
