Every month that goes by without Vista is another month for Linux to improve, and is another month for Apple to work on Leopard (and maybe beat Vista out with it). Point is, MS has competition, which is picking up speed. MS wants to cut that off as soon as possible, and regulate them back to 1-2 percent each.
Release OSX for generic PC. It'll kill their (perceived) "hardware business" (in practice is just expensive dongles for their OS and software suite) but it would pretty much nail M$ to the wall.
I'm sure if you set up a hamburger stand in Burger King's parking lot they would surely have you removed.
Apples and oranges. Setting up a hamburger stand in BK's parking lot is tresspassing on BK's private property. That is no different than your neighbor across the street holding a garage sale on your drive way.
IBM saw the entire affair for what it is -- extortion. They also knows that if they cave into one, they'll be defending themselves till cow comes home.
Organizations should be judged on capability and not intention, for capability persists but intention could change in a blink of an eye. Google's "Do No Evil" mutto is but their current intent. Should a management change, it may no longer hold true.
3 billion human legs were humped on August 29th, 2007. The survivors of the frottage called the humpfest 'Judgment Day.' They survived the embarrassement only to face a new daily embarrassement: the daily humping by the cute little machines.
Thank god for the death of the image constraint token!
Image constraint token is enabled by content; for the playback devices to be certified, they are required to support it. The content providers at this point has decided not to rape consum... (ahm) enable it does not preclude it from being enabled at a later date.
And making everything as proprietary or closed as possible.
I strongly disagree with this statement. Apple's preference to in-house proprietary solutions early on had more to do with the intense desire to design a better mouse trap and less to do with locking in customers. If you want to see proprietary for the sake of being priprietary, check out Compaq computers and peripherals in the 80's, or Sony' UMD, Memory Stick... etc.
Steve Jobs despites all of his personality flaws, understands that much of Apple's value comes from software, not the expensive dongles they passed off as products. Locking down the OS and services to prevent... compatibility with "unauthorized platforms" is absolutely essential in maintaining that value.
Per link to xtekxray.com, "A final conclusion on the Mechanism's purpose is expected in 2006, after full examination of the data. The investigation continues to be filmed for a major TV documentary," or somebody paid a pretty penny for exclusive rights to its eventual publication.
Why did they benchmark it against a DDR1 socket 939 FX-60?
Standard marketing practice. I remember a RAID controller vendor had the gull to disable tag command queuing on their competitor's product before running benchmarks against their own, then declare their product superior.
"(SCO) can't be bargained with.(SCO) can't be reasoned with. (SCO) doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And (SCO) absolutely will not stop, ever, until (it is) dead."
I mean, I always read about the world they want us to hear about and they never go into details on how our civil liberaties and the constution are essentially being used a toliet house by the people in Washington.
With media conglomerates in collusion with the ruling political body, is it any wonder?
I never understand why ISPs just want to charge more. Do they really just want to earn more money? Or do they really have a problem with current plans?
Surely you jest.
I believe Michael Douglas said it best in the flick Wall Street... "The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works... It's never enough for Wall Street." Corporations will milk consumers for everything they got, for as long as they can, for as much as they can get away with. With Jr. and Dick in the White House, that's a lot.
With the amount of junk orbiting the planet at high speed, I question if the station will even survive the first week.
Inflict heavy fine on people buying spamvertised products and execute spammers. Only then can spam be stopped for good.
RIAA CHOOSES YOU.

The irony, if true, according to what Inquirer article claims http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32528 is that Microsoft paid THE WRONG PERSON.
I am more concerned if the presence of the cabling and radiator would obstruct airflow over other components that are not fitted with waterblock.
One word - Praxis. (Ref. Undiscovered Country)
If it doesn't involve fire arm in some way, it's not secure.

Microsoft offering an olive branch reminds me a lot of the cease fire right before Tet Offensive.

You can bet that companies are now going to pay more attention to inclusion of varies ... undocumented features.
