    This is often done of the FAA and the FTA, and guess what, most of the time, actualy if I recall something like 85% of the time, Airline security fails. But the airline safty contractors have enough clout in D.C to have these tests either thrown out becuse of "Bad Methodogy", or in some cases have laws changed that requires federal testers to anounce thenselves to the security gaurds before they run a test.

    Its hard to find a good stragey game on the market becuse there is little market for them. In real life, the millitary makes a stragey using a team of highly trained experts using the latest in millitary theroy. And even with all that, it still takes them weeks. In a RTS, you have you with a few seconds to make a decision. I don't think you'll ever find a good RTS stragey game, you'll need to use a real time. X-Com is pretty good for that. And lets not forget the old standby, Chess. You don't even need a computer

    Don't forget that Porn makers decided to produce VHS exlusivly. Don't laugh, this was a major reson. Imagin that in 85 there were 2 internets of comparable quality and qunaity and price. One had porn, the other didn't. Which one would the early adapters (the same people who would buy VCRs when they came out) use?

    I supose you should look at knowing the histroy of computing just like any other profession should. A painter who knows art histroy will invaritibly be a better painter becuse he can learn from the perviuos masters. A person in the interntainal relations feild had better know about Westphilla (even though thats not a person), Kissenger, or Machivelli. Knowing the histroy of a feild helps you find its future.

    becuse they are saying that its not the meterials that you are shelling out many K's for, its the teachers who explain it. A few other schools have been doing this for a while, St. Thomas Aquanis school (though I could be wrong, but I know a school like this exists) has had their entire 4 year ciriculam based on the Birtainca Great Book Series for a while. Any one can pick up a set for about 200$, but the other 28,800$ a year is for the teachers to explain it.
    I supose this would be interesting if I'm interested in a certen subject and want a bibliogaphy or some slids on it, but only an idot would try to get a real education by only reading the course meterial

    E-mails aren't paid attention to becuse they are to easy to write. Having to write a letter, fill out a envalope, spend 34 cents for a stamp and walk to your mailbox is coniserdly more effort then e-mailing "Micro$oft SUX!!! Biatch" to every congressperson and Superme Court Justice. High signal to noise ratio

    The artical says that Grokster, one of the P2P that might be sued by the RIAA, is based in the carribien iland of Nevis (or something like this). Offhand I would say that its based there primarly to avoid law suits of this nature. Any one have any info on how Grokster could be sued if they are not under U.S law?

    Oh yah. When I woke up I had about 1500 attacks from the 24.18.xxx.xxx address (my subnet on @home) and in the past 3 minutes since I cleard the logs, I've have 15 attacks from the same places. Sigh

    Martial Law is declared all the time in times of disaster or riots. Most of the time no one notices or its only used to enforce a curfew, stop looting, or just make the disater relife more orderly and efficent, but during the Civil War it was used to arrest people with out charging them to prevent anti-war riots.

    Just heard this, there are rumors that Timthy Olson's, who is the new solictor general (argues cases in front of the supreme cour) wife was one of the planes that was hijakced. Not sure of this, just something that I heard on NBC. Moving on. Retaliations will take place. From sites like Janes and Stratfor it would seem that while the DFLP a palastian terrorst group has claimed responsobilty, this has all the calling signs of Bin Ladin. He has previosly said that felt that the WTCs were one of the largest symbles of America, and has perviously attacked them. He has the orginizatinal power to carry this out. There will most likey be either an attack soon on Bin Laden's camp in Afganistand if the contry does give us accsess, or (I'm just guessing here) a full invasion of the country if they do not. The country is close the our Japansese bases which hold 35k marines I belive. But I completly supprot and belive that there should be no attack, no movment, before we can confirm with out a doubt who did this, and we can plan a way to reduce civilan casualtys. Just because they did it to us, doesn't mean that we can do it to them I am happy that when I went to donate blood in CT I was turned away becuse of a 5 hour wait. I'll be going tomarrow. Hope all of you do as well.

    Basicly all the smart card is, is a mircochip on the card which has a PIN number or word on it. If a merchent has a smart card reader (which few do) can read that PIN and ask you it to make sure that you are you. Fairly useless IMOH.

    I recall an artical a while ago about image recognition used in a Florida town. Apparenty if the computer found a person with an 85% or grater match with a known criminal, a police officer would be dispatched to question the person. I don't know if any one was fasley arreted or detained, but I would rather not be questioned about a killing becuse the criminal just happens to have the same dashing good looks as me.

    Its a bit simple minded to belive that the 'decline' in education is atributed to any one factor. Yes American students preform worse on tests the children of other contries, but thoes contries have the some exact (well not exact) problems as us. They have kept students lerning at a high leval thrugh good pay for teachers, extra school, more money for school, and a thousand other things.
    Teachers are better today then they were 50 years ago becuse of the develpment of better teacher methods. As anyone who has taken an intro college class knows, the professer can know every on the topic, but unless they know how to comunicate that, they are worthless as teachers. Elementry, middle, and high school teachers take hunderds of hours of classes whoes only point is to teach them how to communicate information.

    Not to start a flame war here, but since the internet is global, and since laws aren't, some sort of Internatinal orginization with binding arbatration powers is needed to make sure that some one in Brazil or Burni can't get a copywrited name, or some one using the Colombia suffix .CO can't get Cnn.co or Slashdot.co (NEVER!).

    Its great when its up, but it would seem to me that a good 10% of the time its down, sometimes for days at a time. When I call tech support I've decided that I have a 1 in 4 chance that I get some one who knows what their doing, the other times I know more about the service (from my many calls) then them. Sigh, but their the only game in town, so dammed if you do as the saying goes.
