  1. Lowering the bar... on Smartphones: the New Home of Crapware · · Score: 1

I thought "fuck itself up because someone sneezed" was integral to the Windows experience.

Apple could have stuffed an 'iTunes inside a VMWARE virtual mac' so people wouldn't have to suffer with the Windows experience.

Since they have a better experience to offer, why would they want to step above the fray?

  2. Really? on Smartphones: the New Home of Crapware · · Score: 1

Is that the only reason you won't stop complaining?

Since you can root your android phone, (or iPhone, if you prefer a better experience), run whatever on your computers and stuff, you really have nothing to complain about.

    Yet, here we are.

Really had to choke on that one, eh?

When you say 'think in different ways than we do', in which sense do you me 'we'? Is it the crowd running around in your skull, or are you assuming that others share your obsession?

  7. Ricky Gervais on The 2011 Hugo Awards · · Score: 1

Got it right when he 'called in' his Brit Award from his bed: ' I have better things to do than collect this; look I have real awards'.

Is having a SciFi writing award like an MTV music award? Nobody will recognize yo having any talent so you have to make a losers category that you can excel in?

  8. C++ vs PL/1.... on Ask Slashdot: What Will IT Look Like In 10 Years? · · Score: 1

Have you been following the redefinition of C++?

It is possible that the wild abandon of PL/1 inspired 'C's more focussed approach; and perhaps if C++ can eventually inspire 'P' (C's logical successor) then it won't have been a total waste.

  9. Its all in the name... on Ask Slashdot: What Will IT Look Like In 10 Years? · · Score: 1

A cloud isn't something you can pin down; its amorphous nature permits it to be redefined as requirements change or, more commonly, flaws emerge. In a marketing sense it is a thing of beauty - instead of selling 'vapourware', you can sell vapour directly.

"How would they know for sure that they're getting all the same OS updates as quickly as Motorola?"
Could the same FUD not be directed at the MS/Nokia love-in?

The sad part is that Motorola Mobile should now be on death watch.

You don't need to look to something so esoteric to find missing facts in sacred texts. For example, I don't recall much about micro-organisms in the various bits I've read; however there is a fair amount about various hygienic practices.

Is there really any need to nit-pick at peoples beliefs? Nobody's beliefs are literally right anyways.

  13. growth dependency... on Limits On Growth of Energy Use and Economies · · Score: 1

Then you live in a blessed land indeed; anybody who is subject to the whims of the western economic system - specifically those whose economies are intertwined with the United States - must depend upon endless expansion. 15. whats-likely-to-get-me-labeled-racist on Researchers Say Dark Winters Led To Bigger Human Brains · · Score: 2

Isn't the contorted facts that you drool; its that you drool them. Racist is a convenient short hand for stupid, ignorant and mainly afraid.

It may be no more your fault than if you were born blind. Like the blind, there is a lot you can do to overcome your disability. The blind can because they have motivation and courage. Courage is a very big part of overcoming your limitations.

Peer groups can help with motivation and support. That is what has made AA the success it is, and there are a wide range of peer support groups available. But, as a first step, you seek them out. Motivation is important; and life really is a lot better if you aren't hampered by being stupid, ignorant and afraid. Good Luck.
