Under Kyoto, would emissions from buyers of Canada's oil count against Canada itself? Otherwise, I don't see how having a big pot of oil *to sell* would be directly affected by Kyoto. Even if the biggest consumers cut back on emissions and thus cut back on buy, there'd be plenty of smaller countries willing to buy the stuff.
"Just like LinkSys found with their wireless routers."
Did Linksys have their hand forced with releasing their GPL routers, or did they pretty cool about Linux, GPL and their routers from the beginning?
I have to believe that their routers are some of the most popular ones out there, primarily because a buyer, if they so choose, and easily upgrade to a different OS (which is what I did with my WRT54GL, which now has dd-wrt - I love it!)
The main problem is that our Judicial branch no longer has the power to grant/revoke wiretap privileges. All they can do now is to verify that a form stating that the FBI, et al, has filled out some forms correctly to proceed with wiretapping.
Hmmm, I've often felt that AOL might be the only corporation out there with enough clout to take on M$. Simply because, like M$, they have numerous users who depend on them.
Now what if AOL simply said to Hell with this, and grabbed a chunk of Linux code to make their own OS, complete with crowded desktop and AOL ads out the ying-yang. Would it be cheaper to make their own OS (and even give it away to subscribers), rather than get into a long drawn out battle with either M$ or the DOJ?
Ghads.....
I'm NOT Juggy, Miley, ED, BA or AL, and I was only in that house during my (our) sophomore year - remember the Filipino guy who brought in that loud corner horn for the house? that was me.
Damn, talk about a small world though. I don't remember you studying anything related to computer science...myself, I've been hacking with Delphi for the past 3 years.
Drop me a line, if you dig: ghiggins@antibus.com
Acacia:
I couldn't help but notice your sig...someone I knew at one time used to say EXACTLY that same thing, at Purdue.
Would the address "469 vine" mean anything to you? or perhaps "DorkHouse"? If not, sorry to have bothered you...
With all the Delphi (and Builder) developers out there already, it was a safe bet that a number of them wanted to make stuff for XWindows. And the beauty of it is: No competition on THIS platform from Microsoft's VB...
Within the next year, as the kinks are ironed out, and the desired features are enhanced/added in to Kylix, you'll see a steady growth of quality apps for X.
I'd say that violent games and movies may have contributed, IN SOME SMALL WAY. But there had to be many, many of factors, of which we no nothing about, that made those two kids go on a killing spree.
There is a ratings system out for movies (which seems to have loosened over the past ten to 15 years). Is there one in place for games, or does each company post their own labels?
Here's to the failure of efforts by the RIAA, MPAA and any other corporate monstrosity that feels the need to force half-assed, expensive copy protection schemes on the makers of writeable media.
If THEY want it, THEY can pay for it, not the consumers!

That joke stinks.

Would this count as one of the Top Hits of 2008?
2 things:
1) Did you read the entire article? A number of other countries (unnamed) have also objected to the XXX domain.
2) so far, the XXX domain has yet to be derailed...ICANN is considering all pros and cons for a domain, as they tend to do.
About the only sites that get censored or shutdown are those trafficing in illegal goods like piracy or child porn.
Does someone have a link to a Bittorrent of this thing? I was going to put it in My Shared Crap Folder so that Lemonwire could re-distribute it.

why not just sub EULA for Ring:
One EULA to rule them all,
One EULA to find them,
One EULA to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
