And I guess its more important to you that we throw out that pesky Constitution with all its worthless protections?
This isn't a case where there are only 2 choices. There is a myriad of other options, but the choice that these people seem to want is the one that dumps all personal responsibility while throwing away all of the civil rights our people have fought and died for.
I hate to break it to you, but it is a person's right to grow up and be worthless. Don't like that? Then raise your kids to not be screw ups.
Anyone that thinks it's good idea to strip away civil liberties to somehow 'help' the children is an enemy of all our freedoms.
It's easy to justify the destruction of our Constitution, what takes strength and courage is to stand up and defend all of our people's rights.
We already pay taxes to support the ignorant. Last time I heard, the President is paid with money collected by taxes.
Genesis is nothing more than a repeatedly re translated version of one groups view. It wasn't written by Moses in English so stop nitpicking about how one word in one particular translation 'proves' your point.
That CompUSA saved many weekends of boredom when something broke on the pc. It was never the best place, but it was so damn convenient (except wanting to root through my backpack) it was hard to just pass it up. Central Computer near the Muscone Center was better, but not closer.
Maybe some other computer/tech store can move into that space...
When I go into a store, I'm not looking to buy an excuse, I'm looking to buy an advertised item. If you can not provide me with that item, you have failed to live up to your promise. If this happens on multiple occasions, I am going to come to the conclusion that you habitually break your promises. No amount of excuses is going to change the fact that you can't give me what I want, and I am going to find someone who can. It isn't an 'excuse', it's a reason. They aren't trying to lie to make you happy, they might, just might, be telling you the reason they don't have what you wanted to buy.
So, the reason an item isn't there, no matter how insanely crappy from a customer point of view, doesn't matter to you? The fact you go somewhere else to get what you want isn't some keen shopper skill, it's what you should do, unless a person is just a moron.
They did? You seriously think that the people laid off won't get new jobs? Do you really think that the higher paid people will accept a new job somewhere at 1/2 what they used to make? They will take less pay if that's all they can get.
What dreamworld do you live in where people will always move up in pay? Sometimes people move down because that is the only place to go.
Try this, get laid off and refuse to do anything that doesn't make you the same amount you were making. Go try it, then tell me that these people being laid off by CC have nothing to worry about.
You get what you pay for, and sadly, CC is going to learn that the most difficult way possible.
Your approach would work if the problem was a top-heavy organization. We don't know that this is the case at Circuit City.
Furthermore, they aren't downsizing at all. From TFA I infer they intend to replace the casualties with new hires.
Are you willing to believe that perhaps they really are just trying to reduce the salaries of sales staff? And why shouldn't they, considering that it's a low-skill low-responsibility job? "Low skill"?
Maybe, but how do they ignore the fact that a person with experience is generally going to do a better job than the new hires?
What kind of loss in sales will CC see when the cheaper new hires fail to answer questions not outlined on the product information sheet? What happens when customers leave without buying anything because they couldn't get their questions answered?
Saving money isn't a bad thing, but cutting out people with the skills to make you money is.
CC is being stupid here. Unless of course you really believe a good sales person is worthless.
Money isn't a clone of Quicken, unless you just read the back of the boxes. Money fills the same niche as Quicken, but unlike Quicken, Money is useable and pretty damn simple.
Money and games are the only reasons I still have a PC.
I could go on about how much I cannot stand Quicken, but that's way off topic.
Wal-mart goes to manufacturers and tells them what Wal-mart will pay for an item. If the manufacturer doesn't like it, they don't get to sell in Wal-mart. This frequently means the manufacturers lose out on cost in order to be able to have access to Wal-mart shoppers. This has in turned leads to loss of jobs as manufacturers find ways to cut costs to stay in business.
All that so people can buy cheap crap all collected in one place.
There's two problems with the click-through contracts: 1) They're too damned long for what they're protecting and usually written in legal jargin that makes them difficult for the layman to understand. A reader's laziness doesn't negate the fact they click 'accept' at the end of the text. Besides, the idea that the text is 'too long' or 'hard to understand' doesn't change the fact that the contract is there, and regardless of it's length, the user can choose to accept it or reject it.
If the contract is deceptive you might have an argument, but if a user is too lazy to read what they are in effect signing, then it is their fault if they are ignorant of any rules they are breaking. With Glider it is different, they tell you that you are breaking the rules by using it. Can't claim ignorance there.
Maybe the game needs a way to speed up play, but until the ToS changes what is allowed, botting is a violation and Glider knowingly sells a product to violate that ToS.
Glider is wrong to encourage people to break the rules, but I can't see how they have any liability. If anything, the users should be, and are being, banned for breaking the rules. These people should be feeling foolish for paying $25 to get their accounts banned.
Blizzard is chasing this because Glider is a commercial interest that is providing a product that has no purpose other than violating the ToS. Blizzard gets loads of complaints from players about bot and gold farmers so it only make sense that Blizzard will attempt to go after the people breaking rules.
The real problem isn't Blizzard v Glider. It is the asshat players cheating, using Glider or not. Glider would not exist if people weren't cheating.
Oh, sure, Apple has a $500-$700 model to choose from now, but that's without monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. plus expansion is severely limited. Who wants that except people who do nothing but surf the web, play solitaire, and check email? Actually, the entire point of the mac mini was to make a cheap mac that pc users could buy, then plug their old pc's monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. into it. The entire idea was a cheap entry into the Apple product line.
I like how people forget that.
Besides, most of the people in this thread miss the point that users should use what they want. If people are happy using Windows, or OS X, or Linux or whatever, then the fanatics should just shut up and leave them alone.
Just because you think something is better doesn't mean it is. And even worse, even if it was, do you really think the masses would use it?
If what he did was botting, then the 'create all' button under any trade skill is also botting. There have been many times i sent a toon enough mats to power level through a skill, i hit create all and go away, 45 minutes later, i have a bag of crap to sell off, but i also dont get banned.
Blizzard says that the dont ban on first offense, we know they do. The guy claims he fought one mob for no xp, loot, or rep. Since Blizz refuses to talk about anything (as per the norm) we can only assume he is telling the truth. That being the case, he shouldn't have been banned.
The sad part is the bulk of people that think his' banning was fine are either anti-MMO, or just anti-wow.
Would the Lambda Legal folks be as supportive of a guild in World of Warcraft that advertised itself a heterosexual only guild? What about a guild that required all members to be white men that hate black people? The problem is that by coming to Blizzard with this complaint, Lambda is asking Blizzard to make an exception for one single group. They want it to be ok if GLBT announce pro-GBLT guilds, but I would venture to guess that they would oppose a guild that was in favor of less politically correct ideas.
To PROTECT everyone, Blizzard made a decision that would address the issue, but it doesn't seem Lambda Legal likes the idea of everyone getting fair treatment by the game policies.
By Blizzard setting a fairly strict policy, they deal with all sides with one simple rule. If a guild wants to be 'pro' anything, they should take the time to put their values on a 3rd party website and direct people there. That way everyone gets equal treatment, and isn't that the main idea anyway?
of all the people of faith i have encountered, you summed up beautifully the idea that just because a book says one thing, it doesn't mean that those words are absolute.
we might not agree on the existence of a god, but at least you can express you point without sounding like some bible thumping fanatic.
Well I care. I have been using AIW cards for nearly 6 years. They aren't the best at any one function, but they have always fit my needs. Aside from early problems with Windows XP, ATI has been decent with support and updated drivers.
I'm not going to try and say AIW is the best, because it isn't. But I can use them under windows, BeOS, and FreeBSD. It irritates me that I can't use it with MythTV.
And I guess its more important to you that we throw out that pesky Constitution with all its worthless protections?

Please, for everyone's sanity, remember that.
We all die in an insane asylum.
It's called Earth.
So, just like in World of Warcraft, we got ourselves another troll hater.
That CompUSA saved many weekends of boredom when something broke on the pc. It was never the best place, but it was so damn convenient (except wanting to root through my backpack) it was hard to just pass it up. Central Computer near the Muscone Center was better, but not closer.

We have p2p and other weapons of mass destruction.
If it is so dull and boring, then explain how Blizzard is making money on this. Are they using mind control to force people into paying?
You might find it boring, fine, don't play. But a lot of people think its fun enough to pay for. Maybe the problem isn't the game, maybe it's you.
Go find a game you enjoy and stop playing the ones you don't enjoy.
Just an idea.

Stop making sense.
People that think you can get a feature comparable pc for less than a Mac are delusional.
Leave it to Florida to stomp on the 1st Amendment at all times.
Can we get a lawsuit going to ban the Bible down there? It's full of rape and murder, and I think the youth of the world should be protected from it.
Shhhhhh, those doest not desire to anger the overlords!
heretical lips shall sinketh the divine barges of the gods!

silly, they won't use titles like 'mullah', it will be something bigger like 'lord emperor' or 'grand defender of the faith' or 'fuehrer'

no, you wont frag anyone.
it isnt on the pc yet.
god you people whine about anything. dont like consoles, dont play consoles. quit trying to look great because you can use a damn keyboard.
you assume that scripture detailed everyone that entered the ark.
using a literal interpretation, the genesis account of a flood basically says 4 men and 1 woman survived.
so, noah's kids were banging their mom?
only one woman.
please explain.

It doesn't have support for ATI AIW products. Granted, that isn't their fault.
You can compare features, but until you can compare hardware, it's difficult to say which is more functional for the average user.
That said, I'd go with MythTV just to keep from sending cash to Redmond.
