    I have the same (linksys 4 port) with swbell. It uses PPPoE and it has NEVER given me any trouble. It works flawlessly. The added advantage of a dynamic IP is I can go and get a new IP when someone is trying to find an open port and being especially insistent. Get new IP, problem solved

    God, Is the average intelligence of the posters going down on Slashdot? Everyone is a fricking armchair scientist! Here is some scientific method for you: Hypothesis: It is possible to make intelligent posts on Slashdot. Tools needed: Eyes. (Or text to speech converter) Brain. 3rd grade reading level. Ability to understand how a Link works in hypertext. Experiment: Read original post. Read Article post links to. For most, re-read article. Use brain. Then make comment on one or more post regarding said article and/or original post OR another posters post. Use logical half of brain while typing up comment. Proofread comment. Push submit. Results: Read others comments about your post and use them to improve future posts if present post does not match your hypothesis Hopefully this will help!

    Also it is a commercial product (Windows) So I think a product that one has to pay for and touts itself as a "solution" Better be secure. And of course it sucks If something is free you shouldnt bitch about it and conversly if I pay for something and I have a loss due to that crappy product then that products manufacturer should be held responsible

    They give a different version to their "famous" converts so as to not scare them away. Other religions have a spokesman so the CoS uses celebrities as there positive PR. It is sad that the US finally agreed that they are a religion. I mean they believe a whole bunch of half-truths and fabrications and have no factual evidence of their "God" and attack those that threaten them and so on. Oh wait that descibes all other religions also! nevermind

    If we preach that we are free, but truly are not, that makes our society a hypocrisy and in actuality we are more manipulated and our morality is dictated than almost any democratic country. Sure we are free to buy lots of crap, and have lots of "choices" but those choices are given to us. This is where the US is. Not a democractic society but a capitalist one. It makes sheeps out of the potential overthowers of the system.

    Wrong...it was meant to be campy in it own way. It was way scarier in some scenes than 99% of horror movies,but still was done with a little humor. The Thing by John Carpenter had its share of funny scenes but was one of the scariest movies ever

    One more word....product placement. Well two words. It would end stupid commercials and prevent people from missing their pitch. If done correctly it would be almost invisible. Seeing BEER on the side of cans in movies or shows always is jarring anyway. It takes away from the suspension of disbelief. oh, and Dvorak is an idiot...

    That was the point. We have only read these themes in books, seeing them fleshed out is a lot more entertaining. And 90 percent of the science fiction I have read is half-baked philosophy anyway. There is very little truly mind expanding stuff out there
