You can't have a free market in telecom due to the countless number of government regulations - from restrictions in frequencies, to regulation on how to install cables under the road, and so on and so on. The few telecom providers out there have profited big from relations with the government and those regulations are making sure nobody can challenge their position. Obviously, those companies have nothing against government regulation when it suits them, but they will invoke the free market each time a regulation doesn't suit them.
Well, if you think about it one of the guys running Crowdstrike is "Dmitri Alperovitch". It's an Ukrainian name but I guess there are no conflicts of interests.
Actually it is you that misunderstood what he meant by saying that "the web is dying". He didn't imply that web usage is going down, but that the web (as a concept for sharing information on equal basis) is dying with all information being centralized in three large companies. In my opinion he is right. Now those companies will probably still be using the same web technologies as today (with future extensions) but it won't be the web we know - the web that provides free and equal access to information. He explains his reasoning pretty well in his article.
If an alien civilization has the technology to come all the way to Earth, there is no reason to think they will see us as something much different than ants or wasps. Yes, wasps may be agressive and a nest full of them may even harm a human. However, you only need a can of insecticide to get rid of them. It wont be that much different for an alien civilization that has the advanced technology needed for space travel. They may look at us, study us, but see us as something dangerous ? Not very probable. Try to talk to us ? Not probable either. Do you even try talking to the average wasp ?
You forgot one important point. Predictability is what makes your allies stay in line with you. Predictability is what allows you to sign treates (or a deal as some may say) with other countries. Someone with a business background would probably know that an unpredictable partner isn't a partner at all (unfortunately the US president has a doubtable business qualification). When you go unpredictable you get what you are looking for, that is: - other countries don't trust you and don't want to be your allies since they are not so sure if you are going to protect them when they need it. - other countries refuse to sign any treaties with you since they don't trust you for not breaking it in a few years time
When you loose your alies you loose what makes the US the leader in world affairs - it's influence.
Next thing we know their entire population will all be mining asteroids and will be so sensitive to gravity that their bones will crack on Earth. No thanks. Call me when there is nation on Mars.
Uhm no. VAT doesn't replace corporate taxation. I don't know of any nation that has replaced the latter by VAT. VAT is usually implemented in-line with corporate taxation. It replaces sales tax.
Ireland has VAT too, the tax avoidance has nothing to do with it, it is because of corporate tax, which is another topic.
I am all for the free market, but we have different countries with different standards of living, different tax levels, so companies proffit from these differences. There is no free market in reality, when an average Chinese salary is 1/20th of the average US salary. Companies profit from this, however people cannot.
If the market was really free, the average Chinese guy will be able to come to the US and claim a US salary, which will balance the income around the world - there wont be such a difference in living standards in the first place. The same applies to taxes, goods and services - there are differences between countries and import tarrifs are tools to offset those differences (among other tools).
So, I am all for a free market, but only if it's really free for both companies and people, otherwise it is simply unfair.
You don't, VAT is imposed on all goods and is paid by the end customer. There is no distinction between local and foreign production, VAT is applied at the point of sale. When the buyer is a reseller, they can deduct the VAT they paid from the VAT they received, giving the difference to the state. Finally, at one point an end customer buys the product - end customers don't have a VAT number and cannot make deductions, therefore end paying the whole VAT chain. This is somewhat similiar to the US sales tax system.
What you describe are import tarifs, which are meant as an instrument for balancing a country's import and export accounts.
Doesn't US states have a sales tax equivalent to VAT ? There is not much difference from the consumer perspective, both are added to the value of the product at sales. The difference with VAT actually is more subtile than it seems. While VAT is paid by all resellers, they all can deduct VAT they paid from the VAT they received from end customers. At the end, both sales tax and VAT is paid by the consumer.
Right, it is a nice tale by an intelligence agency without any actual proof. An agency that would profit directly from the destruction of this AV company - the only massively used AV that happens to detect this same agency's malware.
It is ridiculous that YOU would believe some spy agency's words accusing another country spy agency of hacking while they where the ones doing the hacking in the first place. I would say you would be a fool to believe anything that a spy agency says to you. Unless there is independent technical research providing proof of software backdoors in Kaspersky, there is no point in believing any of these stories.
How about this - Kaspersky is the only AV that detects Israeli, CIA and otherwise malware and that's why it is being explicitly targetted by a smear campain. Does it sound plausible ?

Exactly. That's the reason why they can roaam naked all day without fear of unexpected erections.

Ok, my mistake, I was under the impression most of it was CO2.
That's not water ice, it's CO2 ice.
Yes, but they are part of the free world, so nothing to worry about.
They can always deny you from buying new GPUs at a discount price. You can still buy all those GPUs at market price though.
They can also deny you support and hardware replacements if you don't respect the agreement.
For now.

Now think again what the current administration can do with such a system during the next elections. Got it ?
Do you really care about how agressive ants are ?

Why use a keyboard ? Keyboards are for ludites. Modern people tablets with apps that app apps. Appity app !

How is that different from the US sales tax system ? Looks the same to me ?

Please, don't ! Leave them with their brute forcing. In the meantime we can enjoy secure communication.
I am not sure if this is just an attempt to please the lobbysts of encryption regulation or ignorance.

Computer hardware and software should NOT be used in elections in the first place.
Paper ballots work perfectly well until now.

How do you know all that ? From US media or first hand experience of living in Russia ?
Uh, can you point us a single country that prefers its neighbours' interrests to their own ?
