    Disclaimer: I'm a moderate Apple fan boy.

    Now, concerning that ever so famous Dell quote, I think at the time he was on to something. Apple was really in a bad shape and it would have taken a miracle to save Apple. Lukilly, and against all odds, Apple has had more than it's share of miracles and thus now it makes Dell look like a fool.

    But at the time, no one could have predicted candy colors would have saved Apple.

    Nope. But I'm saying every OS use the chip differently. For example, Windows apps share the same memory space (well, far pointers do anyhow). So this does affect what a CPU-level attack could do. That and other issues I'm sure.

    So, saying a specific CPU attack could also affect another system is speculative. I'm willing to concede there's a risk but simply FUDding the issue around is just not constructive.

    Installer 4 can coexist with the App Store on firmware 2.0. This means you can have all the bells and whistles of free and pay-for-use apps of the App Store, PLUS all those apps Apple will refuse to put on their store.

    Because they reserve the rights to exclude any apps from their store. Weither free or not. That is quite anti-competitive.

    My 1st gen iPhone is jailbroken and unlocked. It'll remain unlocked and jailbroken weither I opt for an update.

    Nope. Because the hardware designers are bound to follow the direction of MS in order to have financially viable offerings.

    Eg, DirectX over OpenGL.

    Operating the spacecraft, and especially the ground equipment and staff, requires money. That HAS to be authorised.

    NASA's funds being stretched to a minimum, every bit of expense has to be scrutinized. If something isn't worthwhile, it's ditched.

    No. That's the problem. ODF wont mean squat if it doesn't become the default format. Because no one will bother "Saving As..." to ODF before publishing documents.

    Heck, I still receive Word documents as emails. I wont even mention the PowerPoint-as-postcard crap emails I get on a regular basis.
