I was in CompUSA yesterday and was going to buy a copy of RedHat 6.0 but it was sold out. I saw the above mentioned distro and picked it up to check it out. To my pleasant suprise it actually comes with a copy of Partition Magic so I can easily indoctinate my windows friends with a quick repartition and install. I am looking forward to trying it out.
Does anybody know? Would this technology increase or decrease available variety? Would it be like the web where I can get cool Aussie programs like Deadly Vibes here in Jerkwater SC or would it be like cable with 200+ channels of mind numbing sameness? I guess the answer to this would be in the cost?
i knew it was bogus when i realised that of the "operation systems" linux was not mentioned first... that and the horrible grammar...and the fact that they were from a.ru address
What product are you using for drawing the graphics? I'm in Air Traffic Control systems, and I've seen two products that seemed reasonably quick for Linux for radars/situation displays - Intermaphics (Gallium) and ODS (Orthagon). You won't get the same graphics performance in this when comparing Linux to NT because the graphics subsystem I believe is in the Kernel in NT. I saw proof this.

Damn straight. And wealth also attracts women. Sure, when they're kids, I've learned that chicks dig jerks, until they grow up and figure out that that "cool guys" can't afford things like a home or provide for a family. Then they are drawn to the geekier guys. And that's ok because they soon learn that we really aren't all that geeky after all. Do I hate the cool guys for giving me a hard time and the women for ignoring me back then. Nah. I'm happy now. The best revenge is living well.
All you need is a machine that doesn't care that it doesn't have a video card or keyboard. I have several machines like this, they complain a little, but boot regardless.
You can then use the "console on serial port" option in your kernel or just connect via your network.

At least not much. Most Public Broadcasting funding these days (~60% IIRC) comes from "corporate sponsors", i.e. advertisers.
Johnson (?) created the program but didn't fully fund it. Reagan cut the funding way back in the mid 80's.

Why should the scientific community ignore those who believe in a type of Christian morality? Is it because science is somehow "above moral questioning?" I seriously hope that you don't believe this crap.
If you do, go read a book about the creation of nuclear weapons during WWII, and also read some things on a guy named Norbert Wiener. His "The Human Use of Human Beings" may be applicable. Then perhaps you'll understand that science is not above ethical questions.
And for those that say that because we have the theoretical knowledge of _HOW_ to do something that we must _necessarily_ do that.... grow up a little. Actions like the cloning of humans should NOT be done behind closed doors, and then revealed in a "too late" manner. Instead, there should be long and thoughtful discussions on these issues. Of course, some might say that the average Joe could not understand the implications of cloning in any real sense, and in their ignorance they will not want such a thing to occur. To them, I state that the scientific community then has it in their best interests to attempt to educate these "poor slobs." Then, perhaps the majority will agree with them, and these moral question would all but vade.
At school we found an old Apple I made speciallly for a company called Bell and Howell. This discovery took place about 3 months ago in a place we call the graveyard, and ever since then we have been lovingly taking care of it and learning it inside and out... ahhh.. what a great machine. Recently ran a prime number generator, took something like 2 hours to find the first 1 thousand, and that was running a highly optimized algorithm. Sure the machine is porbably worth tons, but we have no intentions of selling it:)
Anyway, I want to hear less about HDTV broadcasts and more about HDTV sets available for purchase CHEAP. -- "Please remember that how you say something is often more important than what you say." - Rob Malda
Clearly they are discrete individuals who can make their own decisions. But it is not clear to what extent their genome influences things like thoughts (or modes of thinking), ambitions and desires.
You should check out some studies on identical twins. Pretty weird stuff. -- "Please remember that how you say something is often more important than what you say." - Rob Malda
About a year ago a certain porn site used one of my site's email addresses - 'asThickas@TwoShortPlanks.com' as a reply address to a message that was plastered over a whole bunch of newsgroups. As you can guess, I was not much pleased.
I didn't do anything about it at the time, but my question is what *can* the individuals do about something like this? Who do I complain to? The company was using their own hosting service, so postmaster wasn't really an option.
Can people like me sue (slander?) If so, does anyone know anyone who's had experience in this kind of thing, preferably someone who has delt with this kind of before, and is feeling like doing it on a no win no pay basis. It'd be great if we could actually start hitting back easily and quickly every time this happens.
"the resultant offspring will be as unique an individual as anyone else."
Wrong. The clone would be as unique as an identical twin. That's fairly unique, but not as unique as two randomly chosen people. -- "Please remember that how you say something is often more important than what you say." - Rob Malda

yes, this is very clever!!!!!
I haven't tried it yet, but shoulda work...
But a little to much pain in the ass for my
taste. So I will stick with my xemacs and
JACOB, until they include swing1.1.
I just can't understand why they use 1.0.3.
1.1 is out for quite some time now ain't it????

I can theoretically do it!!!!!!!!
But unfortunatly swing 1.1 has more than 500
classes and as a result, VA is complaining.
yes, yes I have tried it and VA complained...
thanx anyway

And with a limit of 500Classes I can't even
import the hole swingall.jar
anybody knows how I can get it to accept
