    For those of you who do not know California's govener is Gray Davis. He was just elected during the 98 elections and was expected to be somewhat ineffective because he is very moderate (i.e. gray). It is good to see him making quick discisions like this. Glad I voted for him.

    I haven't seen anyone mention that the shipping version of Mac OS X Server is actually version 1.1. The CD I have says it's version 1.1.

    Apple originally had a GM as 1.0, but later took it back in to do a bit more testing on it. I haven't been able to reproduce the crashing bug using the test cgi or any of my own.

    Just the facts, please. :)

    I DIDN'T give this information to the state. They collected it from my employer without me having any say in it, unless I just happened to miss the 'opt out of unemployment insurance' option when I was hired.

    It's not legitimate business if I sell information that doesn't belong to me. If I start using my CD-R to run off copies of Windows 95 and selling them, how well to you think "Well, you gave me the CD-ROM, people want to buy it, it's mine now, deal with it" is going to go over?

    And yes, I know we're dealing with copyright laws that don't make my example that simple or applicable, but I still think there's a valid point there.

    And, while I'm ranting in a paranoid frenzy, didn't Machiavelli say that no group or person willingly gives up political power?

    Why only a weekend, hit them where it hurts in the back pocket; make it at least a week to get the point across.
    Per minute charge, what do they think you are ..speed freaks..the internet should be enjoyed,not rushed...
    I'm online 24 hours a day, and I pay zippo...
    I think some governments dont get that by limiting the peoples access to the world it's like limiting a child's fundamental right for a semi-decent education while in his or her prime of learning.

    it used to, but since then it has gone through 2 ground-up rewrites that I know of (prob more) and one of its points-of-pride is that it has no code that is copied from any other wm...

    oh yeah and fvwm blows, functionality AND attractiveness are BOTH missing...

    no dock (to my knowledge) or customizable panel
    clucky config (and I hand edit E configs...)

    there is no reason to use it...

    it you have a weak computer, run blackbox
    if you have a better computer than that, run windowmaker
    if you have a nice computer, then run E, not only the graphically best, but it will actually be faster...

    What are you talking about, Pengiun is by far the THE BEST logo in liunx community, it shows a lot non-corporate characteristic of this niche. And it's simply the best looking logo. Much better than the popular redhat logo IMO. I say they should have used this one:

    I think the iMac is okay for the consumer market, but probably is badly in need of an upgrade. The other problem is who wants to be tied down to one computer with three shipping speeds. Too make matters worse the case while having a neat design is ugly, and their current OS 8.6 is outdated.

    Isn't it about time that Apple grew up and porting their Ui to Linux/other free unix. If I was in charge, and thank *** I'm not, I would at least put most of my time into the Yellow Box project for x86. Come on Apple time to grow up!

    I was shocked by the ugliness of the candidates. Seal? Ants? I said to myself, "they might as well choose the voodoo thing." And yeah indeed the "SWIRL" design won, at least it has theis creepy thing going. (Creepy is a good word for me, i.e. old nicole kidman movies.) Sorry I have seen the Gnome Dragon, damn those guys know how to design logo (and throw frame ;)

    The main hazard to the internet in my humble opinion is that governments want to censor and regulate it to death. Just ask an Australian user.

    I hope that by now the internet has sufficient momentum behind it for people to develop protocols and communications networks that reduce the ability for governments or corporations to control our communications. But I ain't sure.

    It's _stable_ but full of annoying bugs and lack of features. The MIT-SHM stuff was broken on my i740, leading to annoyings bits in Blender and a nightmare for painting things in the GIMP. And for some reason AX4.2 doesn't support DGA nor the ability to drop resolution below 640x480, which also didn't appeal to me. The i740 XFree module works almost as fast--the only difference I've seen is that it takes it about 5 seconds to display the root window on startup.
