No wonder AMD is the epiphany of bad marketing. If that's the best their idea makers can do they need to just close the doors and make controller chips or something.
Since they are chasing Intel they could just call their next generation Decafalon 2000.

Yeah, but isn't that what the press is supposed to do? Look at this website as part of the press(excuse me Slashdot if I am interpreting this wrong). They are exposing this side of humanity that is beginning to unfold. Do the newspapers disclose a scandal then tell us what to do about it? No, we as citizens take charge and put forth the solution(senators, congressman and the like carry this out for us). Many good suggestions and solutions have come forth from these two days of postings. The rest of the press out there is getting interested, and we are close to finding the answer. We have a lot to thank slashdot for here... Just like it says..."News for Nerds. Stuff That Matters" I hope this matters for most of us.

  7. Did you even read the message clips? on More Stories From The Hellmouth · · Score: 1

Yes, I read them. I don't agree with several of them, but the overall message shows more support for the kids instead of the witch hunting that this can explode into. Over half of the messages on that MSNBC post carried themes essentially saying "Look at the kids, the parents, the people. Video games, violent movies, the internet, etc. etc. etc. is not to blame here" That is what people need to realize. I played D&D as a kid. I played doom out the ass. I am a smart and productive person now(not because of the games, I'm not saying that), more so than the dumbass jocks that reigned in my school when I was there. That's what I want people to see...

  8. Hypocrits!!! Look at hotmail! on The Mindcraft Debacle: Part MCXVI · · Score: 1

Microsoft obviously does not practice what they preach.
Just look at what their famed hotmail runs on -- netcraft.com speaks the truth!
Microsoft is going to pay dearly in the end. Anyone with some sense has seen through this FUD already. Alot of people out there are in bed with Microsoft and take it's lies for gospel. They won't believe anything works but Microsoft and they are doomed for a hell working in help desks for eternity.
Once the new study is run by Mindcraft with the full support of Linux users, Microsoft will be exposed for the fraud they are. Alot of the damage has been done already. Linux is still small and hopefully people realize that when they read Microsoft's news releases.

Seeing this gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling. SGI puts out some kick ass boxes in the first place. Coupled with Linux there's nothing you couldn't do with those things. High school isn't CRAP! Nothing I did there has helped me now. I have seen so many oppressed by what school thinks is right and wrong. Sometimes I myself feel like going back and beating the hell out of the principal at my brother's high school just out of the stupid crap they do to nonconformists. The new youth of America are not sheep! I can't see why anyone would miss high school. College yeah, high school to hell with it.

  14. Microsoft's credibility on ESR and the MindCraft Fiasco · · Score: 1

Yeah, that's the way I've viewed this affair myself. The constant backlashing at Microsoft really isn't helping much. The IT guys I work with are literally in bed with Microsoft. They take what ever Microsoft says as gospel and their software as manna. Many people in IT groups just don't look at servers and software like we do. They want to keep buying the newest servers and the newest Microsoft OSs. It dosen't matter what you show them about Linux vs. NT benchmarks are whatnot. They take this one study, funded by MS and carried out by a reputable testing group, and say "look, I told you so".

In the end Microsoft is going to win in the majority of markets simply because you can't get the "big brother" feeling from open-source that most people seem to get from Microsoft. Linux seems on the right path for that. As long as we as developers and operators continue to support Linux and support the groups that are working to produce standards and support, the future looks pretty good.

If what the guy said earlier about Xerox is true, he didn't introduce anything new at all!! I really would like to see what kind of precision you get out of that sucker when you send it across a wooden table.
On his hardware, yeah, he's got some great stuff. On the other hand, I have accounts from people who installed MS joystick drivers on their pcs and their gamepads quit working! One of them broke down and bought a MS gamepad and it worked like a champ. I welcome some input on this.

Linus says we are gonna kick your ass. Bill acts like the computer god of everybody. When do the computer users get software that works? I don't care if Windows sucks, microsoft sucks, or any of that. I hate the idea of one person telling us what the future of the computer industry is. I believe computers are different from any other commodity in the world. No one person should regulate or control it.
