See, there's this funny thing about gold rushes. Almost invariably the only ones who made money are not the miners. It's those who sold equipment and food to them.
Sure, if you want to dilute the word "addictive" until it's meaningless, than everything is addictive. I have never seen a marijuana user do things that are self-destructive to the end of getting more marijuana. Nobody goes out and steals to get pot.
Congratulations, you successfully managed to disprove a mainstream scientific theory admitted by an overwhelmingly large scientific consensus that depends on this consensus for continued funding.
Liar's Poker, by Michael Lewis. I have no idea what you're talking about with the idea that mortgage-backed investments weren't very popular until 2002. Salomon Brothers invented the idea of bundling mortgages and reselling them in the early 80s, in response to Carter-era "affordable for the housing and sub-prime" nonsense.
I have to say, I'm really surprised this is happening in Turkey. Turkey is actually a fairly westernized country, and while it is predominantly Islamic
Dude, Turkey is "predominantly" Islamic the way the Holy See is "predominantly" Catholic. 99% of Turkeys are Muslims.
Blacks in the US *have* to think pragmatically. They can't afford (or they act as if they can't afford, which I wish most folks would do) to elect officials who are going to play shenanigans with their sons' and daughters' bodies in a godless (you heard me) war over oil. Black folk by and large send their sons and daughters to college to get law and medical degree, and they vote for candidates who reflect their interest.
You do realize that what you wrote makes no sense, right? You state that black parents have to worry their kids are going to go off to fight in wars, then state that blacks "by and large" send their kids to law and/or medical school.
Hate to break it to you, but the majority ("by and large") of black kids do not go to either the military or law/medical school.
The problem is, a lot of people WANT a simple apartment where they can live less than 10 miles from work.
Sure, a lot of people do. But evidently, most people do not. They sure don't in the USA, and I suspect they wouldn't in other parts of the world if they had our uncommon combination of wealth and space. Canadians, for example, seem to like suburbs as much as we do.
You had to obtain the shirt with the logo somehow. Even if you got it for free, that would be an unsanctioned use and dilution of the trademark, and because you accepted it, you participated in the trade (especially if you paid for it), and therefore would be a party to the infringing action.
Unless, of course, I bought a blank T-shirt and some paint and drew it on the shirt myself.
But DVD is *cheap* transient crap, and perfectly adequate for home backups.
LOL! Sure, if you have less than 2GB of data. Because more than that, and I'm not willing to sit and feed discs.
There is, unfortunately, no good tape backup system for home if you have any real volume. I'm sure not able to buy LTO or something like that for home.
The best you can do is write to a set of encrypted external hard drives and rotate them offsite.
If your server has 128GB of ram then a 256GB swap file is 'normal'.
Only if you're pedantically following advice from 10 years ago. Swap "must be" 2x RAM was a suggestion at one time, but hardly required, and perhaps not even universally agreed upon best practice.
Nice assertion. Which ones?
The stories contained in Case Book of Sherlock Holmes are under copyright in the USA until 2016 to 2033, depending on the story.
Gee kid, I guess my assertion is true.
See, there's this funny thing about gold rushes. Almost invariably the only ones who made money are not the miners. It's those who sold equipment and food to them.
1998 called and they want their analogy back.
Socialism, BTW, is when the state controls corporations.
Which is also known as fascism. Wacky.
Like Lord of the Rings?
Yes. Consider that there are some Sherlock Holmes stories that are still under copyright in the USA.

Hate to tell you, but it's not exactly unknown.
Congratulations, you successfully managed to disprove a mainstream scientific theory admitted by an overwhelmingly large scientific consensus that depends on this consensus for continued funding.
I fixed it for you.
The memory of water was a famous hoax, at least in France, 15-20 years ago
Or in America today, where it's called homeopathy.
Read up yourself.
I did. Which is why I'm familiar with the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act and you are not.
That would be Mena, ARKANSAS. And you would be referring to Iran/Contra, which was a Regan affair.
Donald Regan actually had little to do with Iran-Contra.

It was deregulation, spearheaded by the Bush administration, which allowed financial institutions to create "mortgage-backed securities".
So sad. Read up, sonny - it was the Carter administration.
In fact in both U.S.A. and France, publicly refusing the Armenian genocide is an offense punishable by law.
Um, no it's not.

Dude, Turkey is "predominantly" Islamic the way the Holy See is "predominantly" Catholic. 99% of Turkeys are Muslims.
It was also wrong, because it refers to Turkey as a muslim country
99% of Turks are Muslims.

I wouldn't have been as eager to vote for Jesse Jackson, for example.
97%+ of blacks voted for Jackson in the primaries.
It appears that Satan could run and if he was black, 97%+ of blacks would vote for him.
Yeah, blacks are voting for Obama because they agree with his views. That's it. Certainly couldn't be a situation where if you told black voters that Obama was advocating McCain's policies they'd still vote for him enthusiastically.

I would have to disagree. My company uses a RAID-5 for DB's and a RAID-1 for logs
The DBA in me had a heart attack until I realized you were talking about logfiles and not redo logs for DBs ;-)
there's a not insignificant chance that the stress of constant reading has killed one of the remaining good drives.
You are assuming that "stress" (high use) is a contributing factor to hard drive failure. This may not be so.

Regarding medieval paintings, I think this is the kind of idiocy being referred to.
Well then, you will have to explain why you can see flying saucers on medieval paintings,
Of course, you can also see the earth opening up and demons dragging people down to hell in medieval paintings.
Hell, in ancient Egyptian art, there are humans with falcon heads. If that doesn't smash theories of evolution all to hell...
Call me naive, but I have faith in these companies that they made these changes for a reason,
Kid, you're going to love it in computers. Companies in the IT field never make gratuitous changes.
