I used to think that Linux distros wanting to be 100% free/libre and clean, like Ubuntu, were just too anal about it. Now I think it will soon be the only safe way of using a computer. Safe for the user that is, and not just safe for the computer...
If we get life imprisonment for using pirated software, what will be the penalty for killers, rappers, etc... ? They'll be shot on sight? This is getting ridiculous!
...But there is too much fractured choice in the OSS community... I agree with you. I hope one day we will see an OSS platform that enforces some kind of "open monoculture", if of course such a thing is not a paradox. Otherwise, I don't see how OSS will take the crown away from the other monocultures like M$.
A platform such as GNU/Linux fulfills the needs of a minority. Don't get me wrong, I've used and love Linux since 1995, but it does not fulfills the need of the majority of computer users who needs well defined rules on how things must be implemented to integrate well.
I thought we had a winner with BeOS! I'm so sad it did not fly. I think we can pretty much put the blame on the lack of device drivers. And I think any platforms that wants to dethrone Windows will need to implement a very good "Windows drivers" compatibilty layer. It's sad but might very well be inevitable.
...I think there is plenty of room and sponsorship for alternative sites... Exactly, this will just push people towards sites that do not enforce ads in this way.
...The only place your philosophy works is also the only place pacifism works, in a theoretical la-la world of perfect situations where everyone else thinks like you (god forbid that ever happens)... Why "god forbid that ever happens"? Whould that not be a good thing if humanity unites like that? I know it will probably never happen, but to hope that it won't, is just wrong. Don't you think?
The definition of a document as being child pornography or not has nothing to do with the identity or age or the artist, writer or photographer. Exactly, I'm well aware that technically this is child pornography. But the problem here, is that the definition of child pornography is not clear enough. It certainly should not apply to a case like this one.
...This is just beyond crazy. A sheer sign that our country has gone way down hill. And you know what? These prosecutors will probably get a pat on the back, promotions, and the like. It's nothing to them to destroy the lives of these two teenagers just to forward their own careers. Exactly! It sickens me too... I can only hope this craziness does not reach Canada too fast.
This is just madness! Children exchanging photos of them selfs naked is perhaps inappropriate. But it is certainly not child pornography! How can anyone with any common sens pretend it is otherwise? I can't even think where the court is trying to go with this. How could child pornography laws be applied to this case as a proper punishment for those children???
Where is the free market in all this? Are we not allowed to choose the best provider? TFA says that if they release the data, the customers will start using the best provider! No kidding! I think what the FCC is doing here is just plain sad...
So what you are actually saying is that the fact we pay so much taxes is the very reason we have better quality of life ? It may be so. But I still think our government waste so much of it and also that our system is abused excessively.
I live in Canada (Québec) and I would be inclined to agree with you. But since I have never lived in the US, I can't very well judge it. Québec is a very socialist society and is so far from perfect. But overall I think we come ahead in quality of life (even if we pay close to 50% income tax). My father always said: "Dans la vie, t'en as toujours pour ton argent mon p'tit gars";) Which means, you always get your money's worth in life.
I'm ashamed that some human beings could come up with something like that. I don't think it's funny at all. I'm Canadian and hope nothing like that would ever happen here.

LOL... Sorry for that! I'm a french speaking canadian. Tho I would not be against shooting rappers too ;-)

...I gather that it changed all the card numbers in the database? Yep!Indeed, but they had to actually read the whole email to get that. Which is news by itself IMHO.
This is good news for services like http://pandora.com/.
...The only difference being that they can not shoot you... You forgot a word. It should read. The only difference being that they can not shoot you yet.
And at this rate it won't be too long now...

Having a bunch of these over a city is probably cheaper than using a satellite. But what an ugly sight! :)

We could just say sony/universal/emi/warner. It's even shorter and reminds us of who the bad guys are.
For those wondering
"idkfa" is a cheat code in the iD Software game Doom, which gives you all the weapons in the game, as well as all the keys.

Très bonnes explications. Merci beaucoup!!

Actually, now I'm ashamed at myself for not reading the full article. The "in uniform" part changes everything indeed.

Well I don't know about you, but the 503 errors are gone for me.
Well the new king now is the BENQ 6100 in the 800 US$ range. Which for DVD viewing is better than the X1 especially if you are using an HTPC.
