Hey nobody is holding a gun to your head if you want you can be as "cool" as he is starting today if you wanted. You could start a whole new life as your own Lex Luthor if you wanted. He still gets to eat off a green plastic tray for the next four and a half years so does it really sound that appealing now?
We keep hearing about all these ideas on how to mine asteroids etc for raw materials to build things in orbit. So to me you have a bunch of highly processed raw materials already up there so why not use it. If we can't then I think the idea of manufacturing in space is already a dead idea.
Well damnit you should get titanium shells for all your infrastructure. Everybody knows that!
Sheesh.
Loved your comment though cause that is what was going thru my mind too.
Comparing this kind of attack to recent malware attacks is not really the same thing. This ethernet killer is something a pissed off employee does as opposed to malware that is not so much of a denial of service as it is a stealth attack to steal data.
Sooo tired of FBSD blowhards claiming that it is the right choice for everything. Linux has a very large developer base and is mature enough to give all of the BSD's a run for their money. Linux is everywhere now days from the data center to your smartphone. Your claims that somebody should be fired for using it is just plain childish.
If you think that the govt has ever had security under any administration clearly you have never dealt with govt IT systems. Do you seriously think that any administration has the time or effort to micromanage their IT staff when they can barely get things like department heads in place. Obama has a lot of problems but this one is not one of his exclusively.
I was gonna mod this but instead im going to reply.
You go ahead and say whatever you want but the only user base that is going to go downward will be the webmasters sites that block windows 10.
People are not going to switch to another OS just to use your site. I have never ever seen this happen once in all my years of tech support.
Have a great day you gave me a much needed laugh.
It depends on your situation but it seems like unless your handy around a house or have a good network of contractors to fix things home ownership is expensive.
Yeah if you one of those people that has no mortgage and your only paying property taxes and your house is in good shape im sure its great most months. But lets say you find out you have problem like needing a sewer run replaced or the compressor on your AC blows up? Those times are when it really sucks to be a home owner because that repair is solely on you unless you were smart enough to get really awesome household insurance.
I think the same thing about car ownership in my situation owning a car sucks. Most of our driving is single person to go pick things up around town and back and yet I have to pay for the cars upkeep, gas, taxes, repairs, tags and insurance for it to sit in the driveway most of the time. I would be happy to have a self driving car service that is just there when I need it. At least im only paying for it when I use it.
After actually RTFA and watching the short demo video this system seems to have a lot of flaws.
1. Driver has to look at a secondary screen (which diverts attention from the road)
2. The movable secondary lights track the "hazzards" and shines very bright light on them. This could startle the person or animal and make them react in unpredictable ways (such as dart out in front of the car for instance).
3. Adds more complexity and points of failure for a critical system. (if they malfunction then what)
4. As im sure this system will be integrated with all the other car systems it will add yet another security exploit vector to the vehicle. (Automotive security is not that impressive right now anyway)
I guess I don't get why they don't just have the two bottom lights be non movable and trained on the sides of the road. Then use infrared light (which is invisible to people) instead of the bright visible light to paint the hazzards. The camera would pick this up as it does now but instead of putting it on a secondary screen put it in a heads up display that enhances the sides of the road while leaving the front view unobscured.
Seems like that would have less points of failure and take a lot of the bad design points out of this system.
Probably because the aircraft is more vulnerable beings its an easy target when close to the ground. Im sure the container itself has ground forces protecting it once its dropped off.
Im sure they know what im talking about because you are only on a winning side if you pick one of the two main parties.
Anything else and you are pretty much destined to failure.
I will download the upgrade but im not going to install it until I see a patch that disables this idiotic feature. I really don't fancy having to redo my wireless network because I do not want to share my wpa key.
Yeah we should make an example out of them like we did with the fraud in US banks. Lets give them billions in bail out money.

That does not mean he made $5M a lot of that loss is expenses the companies had in cleaning up the aftermath and patching systems etc..
What with a cloth or something? Sorry I felt it needed to be said.
Good idea a drone strike in Russia. So you think that hes worth starting a major war over. Man im glad people like you are not in positions of power.
Bring on the rush of IPv4 squatters now...

LOL yeah I have to agree there. Now where is my motherfsckin movie check.
Kevin Smith can let Ben Affleck sing it all he wants now royalty free.
You can always use slackware it does not use systemd and probably never will. That's why I use it on my home server.

Whats next? perhaps if Trump plays his cards right he can get Ann Coulter to be secretary of state. I think he can help us win the race to the bottom.

Oh that's not true chrome is still usable. :)

Damn two party system.
If this also applies to elections I have an awesome talent for picking losers. In 22 years of voting I have yet to have one of my picks win.
