    Worst case scenario is that he will still be there, or get promoted or moved into another position where he will keep doing damage (i.e. bank regulation agency, that is basically an oximoron for US). The best case scenario is that he will be judged by treason to the american people, but somewhat i don't think it will happen, noone in washington shouldn't be too far from that, better to just kill messengers.

    Is people that do, using guns. And even guns only meaning is to kill. In the other hand, Internet (or, if you want, medicine) have a lot of potential uses, that the main actual core of it locatedat the hand of a very aggresive/intrusive government and then is used to harm is fault of those companies and governments, not internet per se. What if the US government started investing in biologic weapons, fake medicines or with added elements to force people into submission and/or acceptance, we would stop taking medicines? Would be medicine evil by itself?

    The cure is not to leave internet, just leave US government area of influence, here are some hints on how to do it. And if you are in US, make sure that your government is your government, not theirs.

    Where are our basic freedoms if we can't shoot at the messenger? Anyway, if the US have the right to know what other governments do, then the other governments have the same right to know what US government does. All of it. And include US citizens too, as US targets the citizens of every country. Things don't look fair when you see what you do to others being done to you.

    In fact, US don't have that responsability, quite the opposite, have the responsibility to honor the treaties their signed on (you know, like all those pesky alliance pacts). Things start to get troublesome when what US government signs don't worth even the paper is printed on, there are laws that protect you from the government.

    You forgot one of the biggest US vulnerability: dollar, that gets massively printed by trillons without changes the value of things, and having a debt that would make the pile of bills reach the moon. What if the world decides to break dependence from dollar and just move the trade to Euros or a new virtual currency? That won't affect a lot the superrich, but will affect you. So, keep defend the bullying, you will the the one screwed if that have a repercussion.

    So is ok if you kill someone because others kill too? And while claiming that killing is wrong, and punishing countries because they do it? And there is the thing of scale too. As someone else killed a person, you are now enabled kill a millon?

    And yes, fully support Snowden image. If i tell everybody "oh, US killed a person", is my fault or is US? Everyone should be warned before giving its back to US, they could be the next victims, and US still feels that is their right to kill.

    you don't need enemies. Anyway, some of them could had been aware, at least the NSA had a data collection agreement with several european countries. But i suppose that the information they gave didn't included the part where they were a target too, and how much truth were in the provided information, the best lies are half truths.

    You find out that they are mistaken. So, you don't solve it, do a fake solving, or report them that they made a mistake? Considering how they approach to vulnerability reports the last option could get you in prison, while the problem will still have the same mistake.

And what about other countries, to where this kind of laws gets exported in a way or another? Will a country with a more permisive legislation on firecrackers be invaded just because have WMD by the new definition?

    Would you like that definition of mass destruction to keep being used? A car accident (or an accident involving a car, like being in a fire and then exploding) could qualify. Being charged for terrorism because you were the owner of that car could not be nice, and even if not, having a lot of accidental car explosions labeled as terrorist threats will help a lot the current government agenda.

    The problem is if they ever charge you with terrorism because the firecrackers you throw hit the wrong spot. Would you like a death penalty for an accident? Setting precedents is dangerous, including the one of making this all up part.

    Thats the real world equivalent to the xkcd strip. The problem is, knowing the trend, going in the streets with something like that will surely put you in jail, for years. If they put in jail, for a decade, for scribbling anti-bank messages in sidewalks with washable chalks this will be harder. In fact, is a hack attempt, you could get a century in prison for that kind of things. Meanwhile, you keep the money and walk free, even if caught screwing the entire world's economy. In their view, law needs justice like a fish needs a bicycle.

    As someone that uses KDE programs in Gnome, my view is that what in the end could matter are compatibility layers, the ability to run the apps you like in the environment you like. Maybe android is not the most comfortable environment for desktop, but i would not complain if i can run its apps in i.e. gnome 3, if that the environment you prefer. That is one of the strenghts of linux, one base OS, apps that runs on different environments and devices, and the ability to run in one environment apps from another. That way i had the possibility to run WebOS apps/games in Maemo, or X apps on Mir.

    So, maybe i would or not run android on desktop linux, but probably will want to run its apps.

    There are far more deployed of the small kind than the big ones, are more invisible to the IT people as they are what others goes thru for remote access. And i usually see small ones everywhere, while putting linux as firewalls/vpn/etc instead of cisco on other places.

    And considering that cisco runs linux embedded in a lot of them, maybe could appear some open, auditable firmware replacement even for big routers.

    And a lot of other brands... if those are the routers where you can replace the original firmware with a more free, openly auditable alternatives like DD-WRT, Tomato, OpenWRT or others. Or even put Cummulus in supported models. Or if you go to a more generic pc like alternative, directly putting linux or some BSD flavors.
