Why would you link to that? According to the very first table, Linux (aggr.) has 147 vulnerabilities over the four years listed, while NT has 146. Granted, that doesn't say much for Microsoft, but Linux is not a secure OS (most distros are as bad as Microsoft in enabling useless, potentially vulnerable services in the default install). Linux can be MADE to be secure, but then so can NT, so there's really no point to be made there.

If you're going to crow about security, at least back a secure OS, like OpenBSD, and in the meantime, pressure Red Hat and the other major distros to think more about security in their default installs.

Since most news sources now think of reporting as the act of publishing press releases, you need to go out and find the truth for yourself. DeCSS can be used to pirate DVD, but it's hardly necessary.

On a lighter note, www.ircnews.com got shut down with a phone call from someone claiming that their parody site libeled him. No due process, just shut down because some guy picked up the phone. I actually prefer China's censorship to ours, because at least it's consistent. If you say anything bad about the government, you get shut down. Here, all it takes is to piss someone off and hurt their feelings, and then the burden is on you to prove your innocence. This isn't the freedom I was brought up to expect.

Companies are starting to release data DVDs (Microsoft's MSDN and Technet can now be had on DVD, instead of multiple CDs), and that can be a huge benefit. It really doesn't cost much more to have DVD installed, and the potential benefit with regards to data DVDs makes it worthwhile, I think. I remember back when CD-ROMs were making their entry into the market, and I'd invariably come across people that said "Why would I want that? I won't be listening to music on my computer."
