    All you have to do in France is file a suit, then you can use the police as your own private invasion force to execute a search warrant? So, for example, the Leonardo arts organization could file a silly little nuisance suit against Transasia, then use it as an excuse to raid their offices?

    It's too bad this wasn't covered in Judge Jackson's FoF. Why does MS think they own my MBR? Maybe it's time for (yet another) class action suit for all people who have had to waste time recovering from this.

    I first ran into it when trying to configure a win95-OS/2 dual boot system. At least OS/2 had warnings about this, and their boot manager could handle it.

    Last night/this morning I woke up and thought "Wow, that moon really is bright", and went over to the window. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was my neighbor putting up Christmas lights, with the help of a 500 watt halogen work light aimed right at my window.

    Likewise for me. A few weeks ago I went to amazon.com to buy a book. Before I "one-clicked" I reconsidered, based on their patent enforcement. I stopped by the B&N on the way home from work, and had the book I wanted the same day.

    Maybe I should send an email to Amazon every time I purchase from someone else?

    Why not have it filter out the organic material (bugs, spiders, slugs, small mammals, etc), put it into a fermentation container to generate methane, which it could then use later to generate energy to charge its batteries?

    Our FUD Factory is better than your FUD Factory because:

    - Ours is Open Source FUD - anyone can add to it, yours is proprietary

    - Our FUD is POSIX compliant

    - Ours FUD Factory doesn't need to be restarted several times a day

    - We don't have a FUD monopoly and the DOJ isn't about to close it down

    - Ours is just plain cooler than yours

    Originally it was Compact Edition. When they realized that was too much of a stretch they changed to either Consumer Edition, or Consumer Electronics. I think I even saw yet another variation recently.

    M$ wanted a new name is because WinCE was becoming known in the general population. Maybe they thought no one could bastardize Windows Powered something demeaning.

    How about WiPed? You could pronounce it either "wiped" like "I wiped my ass with it", or "whipped" as in "That OS is really p-whipped".

    First, IANAL, but it seems to me that the FoF is now a public legal document. It should be able to be used in any subsequent civil case, even if the two sides settle. I would think (and hope) that the DOJ wouldn't even have the power to agree to withdraw the FoF. Of course, a settlement might preclude being found guilty by Judge Jackson, which would have been even more damaging in other cases.

    This is voluntary mediation, to see if it looks like the two sides can come to some agreement on a remedy. All I can say is "Not bloody likely". Also, can this be taken as an admission of guilt by MSFT?
