So go buy you a damn Wii (I know it's possible. I got one. My cousin recently got one) and sell it to some fools on craigs list why don't you? Then you'll easily be able to get 2 for cheaper than 1 360.

How do you protect your self from muggers walking back from the store?

All of that ended as soon as the PS3 and 360 became easier to find. Hah. Got you with your own argument :P

How do you protect your self from fraud when purchasing it online? How do you protect your self from muggers when you buy from craigs list?

Oh but the 360 usually does better?

Oh but so does the Wii.

Then he talks about Nintendo artificially and intentionally short-supplying the Wii for PR purposes.

    Riighht.

I guess it seems obvious that they are doing exactly that when you only look at the numbers of units sold in America.

If they were only selling a few thousand units a month more than the 360 then I guess it WOULD be in their advantage to create a short supply and use that for a PR advantage.

But that's not the case at all.

In Japan the Wii sold over 300,000 units during the same month. The 360 just barely made the 17,000 mark. Hmmm? Taking that into consideration the Wii easily sold twice as many units as the 360 during that month (with 100,000 to spare).

The Wii is selling quite well in other regions also (although the 360 is also, but it's still not selling nearly as well over all).

Then there are life time sales. Even in the US the 360 isn't exactly spanking the Wii. The Wii is getting awfully damn close to 50% of the 360's life time sales and that is in a very short amount of time and without the 2nd generation games to help push it along.. Hmmm?

World Wide sales make it look even more pathetic for the 360.

That's 259,000 sold in AMERICA ALONE.

Exactly how many 360's and PS3's sold in Japan again? Go on.. Tell me.. I dare you.

Exactly how well did the 360 sell during its first few months and how quick did it get into other regions other than America and Japan?

I don't remember it doing so hot in the first 2 or 3 months and didn't have nearly the world wide impact that the Wii is having.

Also the PS3 is just now getting around to selling in Europe and regions other than the US and Japan.

The Wii launched in those regions MUCH quicker than the PS3 and has been selling quite well there too.

Sure you can point out the Wii didn't sell that hot in one region for one month but that sure is a narrow minded point of view. Try looking at the big picture.

The 360's been out for what.. 18 months? It's sold about 9 million? The Wii has sold about 6 million in already.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Oh and sure.. The Wii's software isn't selling so hot yet. It's still early. The 360 didn't sell games so hot at first either. How long did it take the 360 to get it's first million seller or two? The Wii's has had 2 in Japan alone for a few weeks.

But yeah you guys are right.. I suppose it's not doing so well in the software category when compared to a system that is WELL INTO its 2nd generation of games and has been out 3 times longer.

(don't get me wrong I am not a fan of Sony but I do like the 360. These arguments are just crap that's all).

No it's still not valid. All that proves is that if you're smart you'll go buy a Wii for $250 (with a little work and effort it can be done) and then turn around and sell it for $300+

Do that a few times and you'll be able to get 2 Wii's for MUCH cheaper than a 360 or PS3.

How much was a 360 purchased from a scalper? Not exactly a fair comparison. No it's not easy to get a Wii but with a little work it is possible. Call around and find out when your local stores get one. Find out when they open. Wake up super early and go get your self one. It can be done.

One thing I'm glad about is that you didn't try to force the "360 for $300" argument. All the $300 360 does is play DVD movies basically :P

But you're right compared to the $400 360 you can't get 2 Wii's for that much.

It sounded stupid to me at first but I've actually used it quite a bit when I didn't feel like getting up and going to another room to use my computer when I could simply do it from where I was and then continue on with what I was doing and at my parents house we have used it to talk about some topics or look up stuff like sports scores or what not (and yeah... my 55 year old dad who has never really been a gamer freaking has a Wii.. well it was my little brothers but he pretty much gave it to them).

Anyway.. back on topic.. if Nintendo comes out with a tool to learn Japanese similar to their English Training (I think they might have already? but not in the US) I will be all over it.

I mean... My bro left the system there (he plays WOW and could really care less I guess).. My dad set it up and instead of putting in Wii Sports he goes for Zelda and as of this weekend has put well over 40 hours into it. A few months ago I couldn't have PAID him to turn off sports or one of his netflix movies to see how bad ass the 360 would look on his TV.... and now he's playing Zelda every day on his own. For sure. It'll take time but they'll catch up eventually. Factories have to be built and other suppliers have to step it up too. What people need to remember is that the Wii is selling well just about everywhere not just in the US. It's selling quite well in Japan (~60k/week give or take. I think it's still selling out) and most other regions too.

It's not easy to pull off a launch in as many regions as they did in such a short amount of time and still be able to meet the unexpected high demands.

The 360 struggled to do it too and it wasn't selling nearly as well across the board as the Wii is (especially when you consider sales in Japan).

As for the PS3.. Even with the lack of sales I doubt it could have kept up with demand had it launched in other regions sooner. Sony's just now getting around to launching it in Europe, Australia, etc.

Or how about buying a DVD player that has it's own auxiliary ports that he could plug the Wii into? That would solve all of his problems and probably still be cheaper than buying a 360 or PS3 (not that I have anything against those systems.. I do love the 360..
