having cameras and a screen instead of mirrors is perfectly legal, there are actually some ultra-luxo cars that come with this feature.
can't think of the Ford, but AFAIK, the big 3 have cancelled their electrically powered and hybrid cars (those this may [have] change(d) depending on the sales of the Insight.)
