    I think that a dismissal with prejudice is a ruling, because a plain dismissal can be brought to trial again at a later date; when it's with prejudice the judge is basically saying (ruling): You're not only wrong; you're so wrong I'm taking away your option of a re-trial.

    Ummm... Sonic booms from airliners have always occured over the ocean, because the only commercial airplane with supersonic capability was the Concord. All other sonic booms from airplanes have all been from military aircraft.

    You need Five. 1, 3, 9, 27 and 81oz. To weigh 2oz, you use the 1oz and the 3oz on each side; to weigh 41 you have the 81oz on one side and all the others (totalling 40oz) on the other side.

    If your start-up (i.e. poor) company is dependent on the work your lead researcher is doing, and an other company offers $bignum to hire her (with a co-hiring bonus for every former cow-irker that follows), and everyone involved except you are in on the deal, how can you possibly bid to keep your top dog, especially since he already has a fairly good understanding of what you can - and cannot - afford to pay?

    Really, it's hard to picture a data format that's pretty much the standard for the era ever become totally unreadable, so long as the data is intact.

    O rly? Know that ubiquitous Save symbol? How many under 18 have ever seen a real floppy disk? That aside, I second the M-Disc in a player with autoplay; the disc will survive, a player built to last may also survive.

    I don't get the problem at all; we've had a lunar circadian rhytm for tens of millenia, reset every morning by the sunrise. Adjusting from an internal 25-hour day to an external 24h35m one should, if anything, be easier than adjusting to an external 24h day.
