There are alot of different things you can do in IT. If all I did was write code, then I could get kinda bored. When I was in college, I counted the days until I graduated. Then I ended up getting a job as a DBA. On a given day I can go from tuning SQL statements to figuring out why the webserver is spitting out Jserv error messages. I might spend an hour or two writing a Perl program to parse through some datafiles. I guess the point is, a job in the IT field can be almost anything you want it to be.
You can certainly get a job with either degree. However, if you would like to excel at what you do then you should pick CS. I have run into numerous CIS grads who had a very hard time picking up new skills. Alot of what you will be doing in a job is learning. Having a good CS background is very helpful when learning different technology. The ability to pick things up quickly and understand them will set you apart from the less technical people.
I do not know about other bookstores, but Amazon.com will allow you to create a wish list. It will even email that list to whoever you want. I did this for my birthday and it worked out pretty good. It makes it easy for people to see what you want and helps them avoid buying something that has already been purchased.
