I think we should be fighting against any kind of grab for more rights that government agencies attempt.

  11. Hopefully less buggy than 2.0 on KDE 2.0.1 is out · · Score: 3

Hopefully this release is more solid than 2.0, which was quite unstable under FreeBSD, not to mention that all the apps still spewed tons to debug messages to stdout, which isn't something one would expect from production quality software.

    Otherwise, KDE2 is excellent.

  12. This sounds rather vapourish. on Son of HAL For Sale · · Score: 1

Hm... not even any mention of OS. I kind of doubt that they had resourced to write a custom operating system for it... and if they did, a totally new OS without app/driver support would not be very useful, even IF intelligent... which is also quite doubtful.

Clearly, you know nothing about history, since it is the US who created and maintained most 'petty agricultural dictatorships' in this century. Nicaragua. Guatemala. Pre-revolutionary Cuba. Chile (Hmm... who financed Pinochet?) Get your facts straight. Straight meaning, not out of an american high school textbook.

  14. Genius on Tesla: Erased at the Smithsonian · · Score: 1

There are scientists, and then there are geniuses. Tesla was a genius, but his lack of marketing skill (and pressure from Edison) left him poor and obscure by the end of his life. However, we owe most of this century's greatest inventions (radar, radio, x-ray, wireless communications, etc, etc, etc) to this man.

Real nice topic, michael. You definitely have a feel for objective reporting, and an even better feel for international relations. This kind of boneheaded Amerocentric and uneducated reporting is what's gonna make me stop coming to this page.
