The CIA isn't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. They're trying to ferment a violent government coup. Once a U.S. puppet is in place, you can kiss this free communication goodbye again.
And if you've ever met anyone from Cuba, they'll also tell you that Cuba is nothing like what it's portrayed to be in the U.S. news. Or just ask any European who (unlike us "free" Americans), is actually able to vacation there.
Well, I guess on the morality scale, this is an improvement over open assassination attempts and blowing up airliners to discourage tourism. I guess that's "moral progress" by slimy U.S. standards.
Batista was a U.S. puppet, and his cronies (who are now a significant voting block in FL) lost a lot of money and power when Castro came in. They want it back, and they want it back BAD. The U.S. will murder, commit terrorism, or do anything else to accomplish this goal.
The most shameful incident (IMHO) came in 1976, when a CIA agent blew up a civilian Cuban airliner, killing 78 innocent people. And said CIA agent is still living free (and protected) in the U.S. to this day. The U.S., my country, openly committing terrorism for petty economic ends. Fucking pathetic.
Proposing something and actually FUNDING it are very different things. GW's space efforts were just for show, as has been the case with every President since Nixon. They all get up and give their "WE'RE GOING TO MARS, BOYS!!" rah-rah speech. But at the end of the day, the NASA funding that was cut after Apollo remains at pretty much the same anemic levels. So NASA floats along, jerking around with LEO space bullshit, pretending they're actually going to do more *someday*. But it's all a dog-and-pony show for dumb shits like you. And that is truly non-partisan, with both parties being equally full of shit about being serious about space.
We didn't leave so much as an air base there but pulled totally out.
LOL, you CAN'T be serious! The U.S. embassy in Iraq is the largest embassy in the world. It's more like a fortress complex than an embassy. It has a staff of 15,000 people, not even counting the CIA staff who are "off the books."
You think all that is just for diplomatic talks with a fellow democratic country? You can't possibility be an adult and be that fucking naive. It's the *real* administration HQ for the puppet government. The official offices for the Iraq government are just for show.
deGrasse Tyson came up with "Cosmic thinking" that basically says we are all together on this little planet and we need to work together - for ALL of our benefit.
It' a great idea. But in reality, petty bickering inevitably breaks out even in small groups of people. Without good leaders, people just won't act in concert very well, even when it's clearly in their best interests.
Deadliest Catch got so bad that it just became painful to watch. I remember one scene where two captains were supposedly having this big feud and you could actually see one of them start to crack up right before a quick cut to some stock footage. They got to where they couldn't even keep their damn characters straight. In one season, a captain would be a hero and nice guy. In the very next, he would be the designated backstabbing bad guy.
Only on paper. The truth is that NASA and Russia have been at each others' throats from day one. Remember how pissy NASA got when Russia one-upped them on the first space tourist? It was like watching a jealous child throw a goddamn temper tantrum.
Talent is only needed for some jobs. For most jobs, an indentured servant who does what he's told (or else!) is much preferable to some free citizen who asks questions and wants the occasional raise. Ideally, they want full-on slaves--who they don't have to pay at all and can beat at will. But those are still illegal (for now).
If I based every software purchasing decision on whether or not the company CEO was a prick, I wouldn't have many products left to choose from. Even choosing an OS would be next to impossible. Apple would be out (Steve Jobs was a notorious asshole who parked in handicapped spaces and refused to give to charities). MS would be out (one word: Ballmer). Shit, even Linux would be out (ever seen one of Torvalds' infamous rants?). I guess I could use FreeBSD or OS2/Warp. But I'm sure someone would have some bone to pick about their creators/parent companies too.
I just don't have the time to vet every goddamned person over every goddamned thing. It would be one thing if Mozilla as a company were putting up big "We hate gays!" banners on their webpage or something. But I just can't bring myself to care that their CEO may be a prick as an individual. After all, most of them are.
They do not actively undermine governments
Do you believe in Bigfoot too?

Not CIA? That's what I expected.
Ha, who do you think USAID is a front for?
Well, I guess on the morality scale, this is an improvement over open assassination attempts and blowing up airliners to discourage tourism. I guess that's "moral progress" by slimy U.S. standards.
USAID is suppose to be an aide organization.
Like many U.S. NGO's, it's a front. Why do you think so many countries are distrustful of U.S. aid groups?
The CIA needs fronts. They can't just hand out money with "Central Intelligence Agency" printed on the checks.

USAID is a funding agency and they don't "plan" these things.
Yeah, that's the CIA's job.
U.S. government, CIA, and old Batista cronies once again tries to overthrow Cuban government by any means necessary, film at eleven!
Careful when you shoot across bows. World Wars are easy to start, not always so easy to finish the way you want them to.
that George Bush proposed, Project Constellation

Gas, grass, or ass--no one rides Soyuz for free!
The Kindle Fire is Android-based too. And IIRC, it's pretty locked down.
Rule #1 of Slashdot: NEVER read the fucking article.
My Roku 3 will let me side-load channels. If this won't, not interested. No pron, no go!
Rule #1: Always read the contract carefully.
But we are *NOT* tools for anyone.
Obviously, you've never been to Silicon Valley. That place is chock full of tools.
It's got the electrolytes that programmers crave!
