    If adobe really wanted to opt out with heart and soul, they should have paid a good lawyer.

    My opinion is that the intentions of businesses are in the money and time they spend. The rest is crap (but not policy).

    I can't remember my last modem. Hell ISO downloads are in within 2 minutes (remote ones too). I even use mozilla over SSH.

    I guess Emacs is for elite bastards like me :-) who use university networks.

    Well I am a very lazy programmer but I had to do a lot of Verilog. Writing sequences of 10010 10011 10100 etc bored me to death (and it gave me RSI too) so I made a custom function to insert a range of numbers in a base number z with y digits. After that, instead of hating to enter the sequence I enjoyed using my own program.

    After a while I had to edit a 60MB where I had to search for a certain regular expression. It then had to change that expression into another (using info in the first of course). But not always, it had to be at the users request. Emacs did just fine. Try that with Vi, and you'll fail.

    However, Vi loads _quickly_ and the commands for moving around and doing basic editor things are faster.

    http://ivo.nu/coffee.html is an address that will point you to a site that enables coffeeQOS. It won't make it, but it will tell you when it is done, how much is left and how old it is. It still needs a port to Emacs though.

    Damn, I was moderating you as (funny, +1) but I couldn't resist...

    I used to be a windows user and I'm very lazy. The reason I joined linux is therefore a comfort one. However having seen the security problems with windows boxes lately I switched on the right moment.

    And when you are using linux I found out that mozilla wasn't everything, but they did improve lately. Now for the important things...

    I expect that everyone in the world wants easy computing. That requires a lot of qualities of your software. Security and ease of use are a few of 'm. But when I have to choose between security and ease of use... I choose security.

    Mozilla may not be the easiest best implementation but it works on secure OS' and (remember Nimda?) it is secure up 'till now.

    Well, these days you don't own software you license it. With the license comes an agreement that says m$ isn't liable, you are.

    Imagine that with bridges: if it collapses you, the user are responsible...

    What I think is necessary is the ability to make programmes portable to parallel processors. C is sequential by nature and matlab doesn't really qualify as a programming language.

    I've seen big problems at a dsp-house where making the compiler was the biggest business. You see, no compiler meant no clients. When you know this is multi-million dollar figures...

    you are wrong. They are censoring information based on the content (namely it going to port 80). Blocking all stream REALLY does not make sense. There is more to the content of a TCP packet then just the payload. We know this right?

    I know it is a pretty dumb way of censoring because in your link you can always add a new port number.

    Until you stop paying I guess they don't. Basic rule is that a buy is made by two party's. You and a salesman (m$ in this case).

    true, very true. The reason is: people don't want to understand computers _but_ they realize that they are missing out if they don't. That means changing the interface until they understand what they have to do...

    Don't say people don't understand computers. Look at playstations! and you know what is expected hehe.
