I was referring to the other readers of slashdot inability to answer your stupid most likely rhetorical question. All they could do was pile on with agreements.
I was not making any assumptions about you, your political views, or your whininess or lack thereof, just everyone elses on slashdot (in a general corporate sense).
The fact that none of you people have come up with the extemely obvious counter to this very silly question shows just what a bunch of biased whiny liberals you really are.
There is no sense in me even gracing you with the answer though, because your minds are so closed you wouldn't even receive it.
Thanks for reminding me why I stopped reading slashdot. I'm only here cause a friend asked me to read your stupid post.
In conclusion, if you people continue being as blind as you currently are, you will never figure out why your left-wing party keeps getting crushed at the polls.
You're off by 6% on the slaves thing. They were counted as 3/5 of a person. And believe me, the white slave owners wanted to count them as more, because then the slave states would have more representation in congress.
I have to respectfully disagree with you on a couple of points you present as fact. I also disagree with what you say about monotheism, but I won't get into that.
Christianity came from the teachings of Christ
Christianity comes from a long line of ancient writers and thinkers such as Moses, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Jesus, Paul and John and well as later reformers such as Martin Luther, Zwingli, Huss, Calvin and even including prophets who died less than a hundred years ago.
revolution against the intellect that occurred in Islamic religious circles in the 13th and 14th centuries. Prior to this time, Islam was one of the most open, investigative, and intellectually supportive religion in their area.
Have you heard of Omar Khayyam? If I remember correctly, he was a 9th century math guy who was suppressed by the government of the Caliph! This was typical of that day and area. The Mohammaden science guys worked in spite of the governments, not with their help.
Even though Plato authored most of the framework of Christian theology (including original sin and the Trinity)
I beg to differ. Firstly, Original Sin is a Catholic Belief, not a Christian one (Roman Catholics worship Mary above Jesus, they should be called Maryans, not Christians). And the idea of Plato inventing the Trinity is laughable at best.
Indeed Christianity was not only unnecessary for the advancement of European intellectual advancement.
Catholicism was definitely a hindrance to European advancement. But you'll notice a direct connection between the Reformation and Europe's rise. I don't think you can just call that a coincidence.
Does this make me intolerant?
Nope, but it does make you antagonistic. Don't feel bad though, you and the other Humanists who frequent slashdot are definitely in the majority. Humanism is a Belief System too you know, but you don't see anyone defending it. Humanists only attack organized religion.
if everyone pirated goods, then no one would continue making commercial software.
Good! That's the whole point in my book. I want them to stop making commercial software! The end of commecial software would help F/OSS software tremendously! Then, I would never have to put up with proprietary crap again! I could see/modify the sources and make everything play nicely with everything else! It would be the greatest thing to occur in my lifetime!
So please, big software companies, don't just make threats that piracy will stop development of commercial software, follow through on your threats! Stop making software! Go bankrupt so we can be rid of you!
Besides the fact that the New Testament was written in Greek and handwritten the Bible is clear that:
a) Mary was a virgin when she conceived (Matt. 1:22) b) Her conception came from the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18 & 22)
Now you can disagree with these facts if you want, but you can't come up with one shred of historical evidence to back up your disagreement.
And if you want to argue that Miracles don't happen, then you're not going to convince anyone who believes in anything supernatural (read anyone who is part of any faith).
The RIAA issued a press release saying that they are initiating a lawsuit against Kent Beck because eXtreme Programming principles could lead to faster development of file-sharing software. The RIAA's main argument is that CD sales are falling at levels that could only be explained by eXtreme Programming.
Just so no one is confused about this, you do not have to use Qwest.net as your ISP just because you have a Qwest DSL line. You can pick from a myriad of other providers. Check here for a list of other providers.
In the United States, if you find some privately held land, build a house on it and live there for 7 years, its yours, period. You own it because the owner is not using it and never attempted to removed you from it. If you abandon your land, you lose ownership of it. Why should it be any different from software?
Again, the complete inane stupidity of the system rears its ugly head.
If we're paying for the content on the media, we should only have to buy the DVD once. If we break it, or it gets lost, we should be able to purchase another for only the cost of the media. But can I go out and get another DVD if I break one for only the cost of the media! HAH
That will never happen in a million years. They only make it the content when it suits them. Therefore I say fuck the system, it can go to hell. I will continue to utterly ignore all copyright laws until the milk of hypocrisy stops flowing out of the mouths of these leeches of the common man.
Someday, we will be free from this oppression. The laws of the land will encourage the free exchange of ideas and the Open Source movement. And then, all of a sudden, those leeches the MPAA and RIAA will try to come up with some sort of an argument for there pathetic outdated system of patents and copyrights, and without the groping arm of the law to hide behind, they will discover that there is no moral basis to their hypocritical claims, and that they have always been opposing the cause of right!
----Morality cannot have its sole base in legality.
Actually, Sin is not just a label, everything else comes from it, not the other way around. Sin is, simply, disobeying God. Unfortunately, we are rather prone to sin, and the only way to stop sinning is to allow Him to take over for us. We can't possibly stop sinning on our own. (Sorry for what most of you will consider Christian garbage, but I believe that this is the truth, and if anyone wants to argue with me without stereotyping Christians, I'm very willing to hear). But because people are selfish, and want to control their own lives (imagine that), God can't help them, so things continue to go along in the same way as always. The whole situation will continue to go down hill until the end of the world. So trying to come up with a grand social scheme is a lost cause right from the get-go.
Morally Napster wouldn't stand a chance? Depends on who's morals. I think that screwing over the record companies (and the system in general) is a fabulous idea. But then again, I'm sort of anarchistic that way and am not in favour of the entire existing intellectual copyright system. However, that is not really the point, the point is that people's moral viewpoints differ on this, and almost every other subject, so making all-inclusive statements about the morals of Napster (the program) is just as silly as saying that law dictates proper moral behaviour.
If you don't like us, leave, fine, try www.zdnet.com

"All kinds of private exploitation is theft, in the sense that everything in this world belongs to all of us; and this so called Intellectual Property, or Software, is no exception to that." (The Communist Juarez Argument).
First of all, the Internet itself helps people to pirate music, so why not sue Algore? After all, he invented the darn thing.
Also, the article says that Napster will use the ISP defence...Naptster is not an ISP, this is ludicrous, they make software that makes it possible to chat and trade mp3s (mirc does the same thing, hello). The RIAA is just mad because of the EFFECTIVENESS of Napster to distribute Mp3 files.
""It is the single most insidious Web site I've ever seen--it's like a burglar's tool," Ron Stone, a representative from artists' agency Gold Mountain Management, said in a statement."
Wow, anyone this stupid should not be allowed to be quoted in articles. A web-site? Gawd! Ron Stone has obviously never see the software and is talking out of his ass.
I think sensible webmasters these days have scripts in place to remove any file that is linked to from slashdot. The reasoning behind this is that if they can avoid the slashdot effect on their server, then they can still play tty quake from their server console with decent frame rates:-)
Whatever we can do to place more strain on it we should until it collapses. I support rioters in LA and David Karesh's. Just keep on task, dont' destroy your fellow citizens and stick it to the man:-)
This argument is entirely in keeping with FC's manifesto, also known as the Unabomber, read it sometime, its very interesting.
You're confused.

Some very well thought out commentary on Revelation 13:16-17 is here:

I don't believe that RFID tags have anything to do with the Mark of the Beast. I think most serious Bible Scholars would agree with me on this.

You'll notice that mailto has no value, I'd say it doesn't submit anywhere.

Actually, I think alot of geeks are members of the EFF and support it financially, I know I do, do you? Its something that you can be truly proud of.
The reason why no one defended Intel's Coppermine, when it was clearly a chipset problem, WAS BECAUSE INTEL MADE THE CHIPSET!
You own the mp3 until your hdd crashes. You own the library material if you have a copy machine. I don't see the difference.
