srsly? the thing that will push you over the edge away from buying music will be 8% price increase? that's kind of lame dude.

fyi in most states you still have to pay sales tax on items even when the tax isn't charged at the time of purchase. In CA there's a declaration form for total value of goods purchased but not taxed, and a calculation for the amount of additional tax owed at the end of the year. It's "voluntary", in a way, but so it filing any tax return - it's voluntary until it's not.

you know, my wife and I saw the phones in the apple store and we didn't like them. they looked cheap. not because of the materials or build quality, but because they look like other cheap phones.

I have an iphone 5. maybe later this year I'll upgrade to 5s, or maybe I'll keep the 5. I hope in coming years they won't abandon the original form factor.

another thing. when they release a new OS, the phone constantly reminds you to update. there's the badge on the settings app, and occasional pop ups. but if you update you can't go back. maybe you can for a bit if you think to use a backup. but if you do it for a couple months then decide you don't like it your backup may be gone. at that point you have to use the OS or reset your phone to its original OS. and once you're back to the original OS, your only option will be to upgrade to the newest OS. you're SOL for an intermediate option.

Most of those "androids which are never updated" are also around $99 with NO contract. Hard to compare a $599 phone with a $99 phone and say one is better supported.

    Apple, meet Orange?

Firs, change subjects much? Second, it's clear on its face that iPhone is better supported.I agree with you that you would expect better support with a $600 phone then a $100 phoneif your hundred dollar phone is supported so shortly, you could just buy a new hundred dollar phone every year and end up in the same place as your iPhone.

You are silly, have silly ideas and i dont say this often, but you really have no place here on Slashdot with this kind of thinking. It is anathema to what we do here.

I'm not sure what to make of this. I agree we were having a silly argument. but I don't see how you can say that there's no place on Slashdot for silly arguments, and it harshes my buzz for you to say that my contributions have not place in "your" Slashdot. its as much mine as yours. it's not like I'm the HOSTS guy or the GNAA guy. I have excellent karma and regularly get +5 comment ratings. so I think my contributions are appreciated.

Do you have any advice on how I can be a better Slashdot community member? I think we should build a space where people are open to discuss different perspectives, and sometimes have silly arguments. just remember, it takes two to have a silly argument.
