i'm responding tot he comment "vegas casinos were doing this for years". This comment implies that because a private company does it, it's ok for the govt to do it as well. i'm pointing out that the two situations are very different. +1 ontopic.
there's nothing new or noteworthy about the technology. the new thing is it's in the hands of the govt.
fact: apple makes money when you buy the product. they do not make money by tracking how you use the product. fact: goog gives the "product" away for free. but they track how you use is, and sell access to this information to earn their profits. so yes, for apple you are the customer and for goog you are the product. how do you disagree, without ad hominems?
there's a difference when a private company does it and the government does it. the government has the legal ability to shoot and kill citizens on the street, take away their belongings, or jail them for life. we have a constitution in place to limit the role of government. private companies have more leeway but less scope to dictate people's lives.
I agree. [insert shortcoming here]. [insert shortcoming here]. lame.
they released the first smartwatch that people will actually wear. they introduced the first NFC system that people will actually use. they won't mine your payment data to sell more ads at you. they see you as a customer, not as a product.
jebus so much hate on slashdot for apple in the past week. it shows they did some amazing things, otherwise there wouldn't be this instinctive urge to tear them down.
i don't know if the NSA compels them to lie or just forbids them from telling the truth. my understanding is that as long as you keep your trap shut, they don't expect you to actually perjure yourself or cause all sorts of SEC trouble.
what are these supposed hearsay posts? other than on this apple hate "news" story? Note rule 39b: if you can think of it, somebody is complaining about it on twitter.
this is a manufactured controversy. i have not heard first-hand of anybody being upset. the anti-apple people (like slashdot) are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. "outrage" my butt.
my point is it's time to treat drinking and driving for what it really is. d&d kills. end of story. do d&d, get a bike. if it makes it hard for your work, get a new job. end of story.
why is it that people are so eager to celebrate when they see something as a failure for apple? is it because they have never had success in their lives?
Since revoking drivers licenses isn't practical, more driver training is perhaps a better plan.
yes because people's irresponsibility will be fixed by more training. come with me citizen! we will fix your errant thoughts at our re-education camp! we will make you a better citizen like you always wanted to be!
if a pilot few a commercial plane while drunk he would be banned from stepping into a cockpit ever again. He was given a massive responsibility and failed to live up to it. Why should driving a car be any different.
your mom

I bet you're not married.
semantics. goog tracks you to make money off of your activities. apple doesn't give a hoot because they don't make any money there.

Ha Ha HA! OMG that is awesome.
explain.

he can give NSA all the data he has, but it may be difficult to read. not his fault.

Apple never got hacked. Some high profile people got pwned through password resets
sometimes I google with bing or duckduckgo.
I knew my magnet bracelet was being effective.
nope. it's selfish when people argue for their convenience over my safety.

Not impressed. Drive drunk, kiss my hairy ass
boring. hate correupts the innards.
Without a license they don't have insurance coverage. If they get in an accident it will be all out of pocket and they will go broke. Sux man
If people can't handle the responsibilities that come with a license, then take that responsibility. Drunks can take the bus or buy a bicycle.
