The pathetic GUI environment of Linux is a turn-on to some Linux/Unix folks who think command line prowess is a sign of manhood.
Not manhood, but intelligence. You see Unix comes with a set of tools that let you do almost anything with the command line. I think it is much easier to use 'find', 'grep' and a pipe than some bloated "Find files or folders" binary with forces you to click on multiple tabs before it can start looking for what you want.
But wait, this whole GUI question is relevant to the computer as an end-user machine, not systems admin or developer equipment.
A questionable assertion at best, given the fact that many products now come with "web-based" admin tools. I'd bet that many admins use Netscape rather than Lynx for such tasks. Also, while I am not developer yet, I find a GUI indispensable when I take a programming class. It is nice to have multiple windows open (editor, debugger, multiple xterms for CLI tools). Using a GUI also lets you surf the net with Netscape (to look up programming-related stuff) while you work on your programs.
I think that admins and developers ARE end-users, albeit highly specialized, highly trained ones...

It's clear that Allan Konrad, the owner of this patent, is suing GM in Texas (Why Texas? The guy lives in California.)
Juries in Texas courts have traditionally given out HUGE awards when the defendants have deep pockets. Texas had such a reputation as a good place for plaintiffs to file lawsuits that people all over the WORLD came to Texas to file their lawsuits here, which was costing Texas taxpayers a lot of money.
However, IIRC due to a successful "tort reform" movement the law was changed to make it much harder for non-Texans to file lawsuits in Texas courts. Actually the pendulum has swung to the other side so much that the system now favors deep-pocketed defendants like GM, so I too am wondering why he decided to file his lawsuit in a Texas court...

And they are not inherently racist. Most negative human behaviors are learned, so why not teach positive ones instead, i.e., if they realize how bad war is they will never want to have one.
As it is things like nationalism are taught, so while it is true that "thou shalt not kill" ideas like "better dead than red" take precedence...
Or do you think the leaders of countries have never seen people maimed and killed?
The problem is that world leaders not only have seen death and destruction, they often encourage it to maintain their grip on power. The sad part is that most people accept such behavior from world leaders.
For an example, witness the apathy in the U.S. regarding the overthrow of popularly elected socialist Salvador Allende (democracy) by Pinochet and the Chilean military (military dictatorship). It is a known fact the CIA was aware of the Chilean death squads that killed not only Chileans but also citizens from other countries.
