What could possibly go on at Comdex that would require an age of 18 to attend? I'm 23 so I'm not some teenie bitchin cause I'm not old enough. Do they all gather 'round and smoke big stogies or something? Can someone explain this to me? G
Ok Mark this post down if you want. #1 It sux to lose your stuff like that....sorry to hear about it #2 It shouldn't be posted here for sympathy? If that wasn't the motivation what was?

You or anyone else could have registered nigger.com. Nobody stopped you. If the NAACP wants to register it who are you or anyone else to say its not "right"? They paid their $70 dollars and if they decide to do nothing with it so be it. I don't see the problem here
I started showing symtoms about a year and a half ago...the pain in my wrists and the sudden numbness of a couple fingers. I don't have a bad case as of yet but I'm only 23 and have used the computer heavily for years. I just can't seem to find the best position for typing that doesn't cause discomfort anymore. I don't think the mouse has much to do with it...I think it is mostly the keyboard.
With a statement like that I can only conclude that you are using MediaOne. I won't detail my entire HORRENDOUS encounter with their tech people when my hostname stopped resolving...but lets just say it was 7 transfers later ( 2 of which were sent to the Cable TV section of the company and 1 to sales ) before I found a level 3 tech who knew what a hostname was AND understood that they were mystically connected to DNS servers. I second....Speed is good, service sucks ass.
While I wonder what exactly it is that they do over there at transmeta I'm not going to enter into a pool or get too excited about it. After all they are just another company with some kind of product to push...can't be anything too terribly exciting there. The whole "we are top secret and we aren't telling you anything" is just a marketing gimmick to raise attention. Guess what it worked! I'm even curious. Lets just hope whatever it is they do or make is as good as all the speculation makes it seem.

I saw this guy in his bear suit on TV...he went to a local trash dump and scared a bear to have it attack him and he was jumping down hills and having friends beat him with 2X4s....too bad the thing costs so much otherwise I'd grab one just to say I had it. I can't remember how much they said but it was close to $100,000 I think. Only problem is its too bulky....if you were hiking through bear country and didn't want to get attacked this thing would surely protect you but you'd never get anywhere.
he should go to jail for trying to screw a 13 year old not for being stupid enough to get caught. I for one am very happy that he was stupid enough to get caught. Because now he can have sex with people he deserves...dirty AIDS ridden BULL QUEERS in jail. Java Programmer, Oil Magnet, Jesus Christ himself...it doesn't matter...dirty bastard
I can't believe how many people on this site actually are defending a would-be child molester. Anyone who thinks a 13 year old girl could consent to sex with a 37 year old man is just stupid. Period.
A 100 years ago women were not allowed to vote and blacks were segregated. Your right we were MUCH smarter then
Yes "Sick, perverted, and twisted" would be the words I would use to describe this bastard. And the fact that you think its OK just proves where you are on the evolutionary ladder.
Sure this is cool now when robots are playing volleyball but just wait until the great mechanical revolution of Y3K when all of mankind are enslaved and made to run on treadmills hooked to generators to produce energy for these evil things they call robots.
True if they don't open up the specs it IS IBM's problem to an extent. It is also our problem because we can't dial out with linux on any IBM machines that contain these winmodems(I'm not sure if its ALL or not). But I think we need someone to step up and open up those specs so that others will too. In the mean time I'll use hardware that works with linux. But I'd like more choices even if I don't exercise them.
While it is nice to see some effort by some of the larger companies in the world to support linux. I'm more than a little worried that there will not be support for distributions other than Red Hat. I'm not so worried that the code they release, drivers for example, will not work with say Slackware ( my favorite distribution:=) ) but this quote scares me:
"But he couldn't say if the source code of any eventual driver releases would be made available to the general public or kept proprietary."
Will there be problems getting compiled binaries for Slackware or any other distribution? If there isn't any source code with those binaries what will I do? Now that RedHat's prime focus is building their company and keeping shareholders happy will they try to make deals with hardware makers to ship only binaries that work with Red Hat? I'm not saying that they are trying to do this or that they ever will but I worry about it...
A code freeze is a good way to start testing your code. You can start fixing small problems without having to worry about new code messing up the old code which can be a complete pain in the behind. With the code freeze you can be sure that new hunks of code aren't doing bad to the good. Code Freeze==Very good I'll gladly wait 2 months for a new kernel with "less" bugs:) Gary
True enough. I guess I didn't say what I meant exactly. The NSA isn't compiling this list though its a privatly held company in NH ( unless I'm mistaken which I may be ). I think there is a better chance that things could go wrong the more people that put their hands in the jar so to speak. And having a private company holding this data doesn't make me feel very well either.
I don't think its an issue to have your picture. I think its more of an issue for a government agency keeping track of every person who has a drivers license. Picture,Name, address,Height,Weight etc etc..New Hampshire Drivers licenses have a place to put your Social Security Number. I think that might be the scariest things of all. If someone has a database of every persons social security number and that list were to be sold at some point ( don't doubt it could happen ) or stolen etc. Think of all the things that could go wrong.
I live in New Hampshire and our new drivers licenses have a magnetic strip on the back that keeps track of all kinds of information. So when you get pulled over they can just swipe your card. But who is to stop them from keeping information other than Height Weight and criminal history. I'm not sure about the latest ones but the license I currently have has a digital image as well. I wouldn't be surprised to find that there is a list like this in NH or on a state level.
I also had the same problem a while back. When I was running the old 2.0.XX kernels I used two programs called ipportfw and ipautofw now I'm using the a newer 2.2.xx kernel and the program is ipmasqadm Here are what my firewall rules look like. My internal machine is 192.168.1.2:
ipmasqadm autofw -A -r tcp 6112 6112 -h 192.168.1.2 ipmasqadm autofw -A -r udp 6112 6112 -h 192.168.1.2
this code is included in the newer kernels...I think if you have a kernel before 2.0.37 you have to patch it.
