    I started as a hobbyist in 1978 (TRS-80) and LIVED the digital revolution.

    I have an aptitude for it that school would probably have fucked up.

    Infosec and backup were my two nightmares.

    I handled them both with best practices, limited only by management's lack of infinite resources, including common sense.

    2012 is close, but no.

    When email first hit small business,ca. 1995, I was working at a law firm.

    At a meeting, management directed me to stop all unsolicited emails from entering the building.

    I explained what spam was, and told them to sue for lack of productivity or something because, fuck it, they were a bunch of goddam lawyers .

    We revisited that shit for the next 20 years, off and on.

    The "end" started when litigation never happened.

    We know climate change is happening and we know that humans are not helping the situation, but we don't know the percentage of human/nature.

    Humans don't actually give a shit until it's personal.

    By then it's too late.

    The solution is to migrate as needed.

    Undocumented immigrants who are "first-timers," are simply given due process and deported.

    There is a free ride, meals and accommodations prior to ejection, but there is no punishment.

    Because the first-timer is identified and documented, subsequent entry is illegal.

    I'm a retired IT guy for some law firms. Management asked me for years, stuff like: WHEN is this spam going to stop?

    My reply, for over 20 years was, "Maybe after you use your goddam talents and sue the mother fuckers."

    Litigation cures a lot of ills.

    Companies will not address security until it falls outside the cost of doing business.

    Any chance at all that you actually support any of the Policy?

    It saved our ass for years.

    We used to simply include it in the hire package.

    We discovered that, like most things in that package, people were like, "OK, whatever. When's vacation, where's the bathroom and kitchen and stuff."

    And, it's not like we hired people just so we could fire them.

    Recall that I personally talked to each new hire.

    It was a friendly, sensible conversation that a few did not want to follow, opting for termination instead.
