Just because OS X will run on Apple-branded x86 machines doesn't mean that those users will also have Windows on them as well, even though they CAN. Same thing for Virtual PC. Those things are optional, and I'd say most machines will probably NOT have them. So, that's really not any different from the current situation, is it?
What's more likely is that the PowerPC versions of Linux will see development slow to a crawl (over time).
The new x86 Apple platform will be THE platform to have for multiple OS support. OS X, Windows, Linux and all the BSDs, should run just fine, most likely. That'll be nice.
I'm just hoping that the rumours of WHICH Intel processors they'll be using are correct (the Pentium M line). I'd really rather they not go with the Pentium D line. A nice Yohan or Merom-based Apple would be pretty great. Still woulda preferred some nice Athlon 64 action, though. Oh well, can't have everything.
Look, if a cow can jump over the Moon, it's not much of a stretch to think they can get to Mars. Getting out of the Earth's gravity well is most of the challenge, really.
...this would be a _great_ publicity tie-in to the upcoming "Chicken Little" movie.
And... uhm, Windows, I think we should see other people. Really, it's you, not me. What?! Get real - I _NEVER_ loved you! Seriously, you were just a mercy fuck, at best. Get away from me, you smell funny.
Well, adding laser pointers to cellphones would combine the two most-irritating things about going to a movie, so, that's a good option. Perhaps a ringtone of a baby crying could be the third. And then speakerphone capability on ALL cellphones. Yes, the Axis of Annoyance(tm)!
Lessee...how about a tazer? That'd be useful for dealing with members of the Axis of Annoyance(tm). Blood sugar monitor for diabetics (though I think at least one Korean phone already has that).
What I'd _really_ like to see is the ability to make a phone go into vibrate-only mode, and make it legal in the U.S. to do so (cellphone jammers are apparently illegal here, I think). That way you wouldn't have to turn them OFF in a theatre or restaurant; it gets done FOR you. Oh yeah, that would be my #1 feature, for sure. Even more than improved call quality.
I recently replaced Tabbrowser Extensions with TabMix, and while the immense slowdown when typing in forms is gone, a new problem of crashing upon opening the browser from a link from another application has now appeared.
The words 'Firefox' and 'slender' don't really go together; check the memory usage of Firefox sometime. *shudder*
When I first heard Firefox was coming out, I was all excited. Then I heard that it, too, would be based on XUL, and, well, here we are. FF is a great browser, but I'm still waiting for a lightweight gecko-based Windows browser. K-Meleon has a looong way to go, unfortunately, though it's a great start.
Hey old timer! Do you remember FList? I loved that thing. When I moved over to OS/2, some company in the UK was making a version for OS/2 (text mode), but it was soon abandoned before it got released. Saddest day of my life. *sigh*
I'd still prefer a good implementation of FList to any other directory utility I've ever seen. And since I was on an Amiga for awhile, I've seen quite a lot.:)
Other diamond manufacturers have already found ways to introduce imperfections into diamonds during the manufacturing process.
Well, Mr. "I can make cheaper diamonds than DeBeers," we at the DeBeers Crime Syndicate, err, I mean Cartel would like to offer you this opportunity to make a...uhm...contribution to our cause. Cuz, it'd be a shame if something were to happen to those diamonds you're making here in the lab.
Samsung makes a very nice 1200dpi printer with PostScript, ethernet, and duplex printing, that's available online for around $500. Many people are opting for Samsung laserprinters these days over HP and Brother. We have one at work, and it's really nice, plus the Linux support is appreciated.

PSP UMD Format Cracked

Tiny is, of course, a relative term. I've held both, and the DS screens are _way_ tiny as far as I'm concerned. For me, the PSP screen is perfect; not too big, not too small. Plus full colour. Okay, gotta go - I'm drooling again.:)
The wavelength isn't the only technical aspect of an optical disc, though - there are the differences in layers, how tight the spiral is, etc., which _may_ prevent this from being technically possible, despite an identical wavelength. I've no idea on the technical differences between UMD and DVD, though. One can only hope.
I'm much more interested in booting off of, & running applications off the MemoryStick than in anything about the UMD. I don't have any interested in pirating games; I want to turn the PSP into a multimedia PDA. For that, we need to be able to boot off the MemoryStick, and be able to run apps off the MemoryStick, just for a start. That seems to be a lot closer now than I had previously though, so...yay.:)
Yeah, I remember those. You should try one nowadays. As an episode of the Simpsons lampooned, many libraries are "multimedia centers" nowadays, more a way of borrowing CDs, DVDs, and accessing the Internet, rather than borrowing or reading books. This obviously varies from library to library, but many of the ones I've been in lately (even the new on here in Seattle) are far from the quiet, stately places for reading books than they used to be. The new library here in Seattle is mainly a design tour de force, rather than a functional library, and what books it does have are mainly all the old crappy books they had before. Parking is ridicously expensive there, also, so unless you take the bus there or something, it's probably better to just go buy something from a bookstore, for all the expensive and hassle you experience trying to use the library.
And the colour selection of the place - why do the colour blind try to do design? *sigh*

Yeah, but re-entry is a bitch.
I find your concern udderly unmooving.
Besides, I like my steaks Cajun-style: blackened!

Yeah, well, fuck that guy. I don't see his insurance company reimbursing everyone who paid $9 for the movie and another $9 for a soda and nachos.

Other than the crashing, Tab Mix is great.

What could possibly be so important they want to hide it?
What, you've never heard of the infamous 'ancient Chinese secret'?!
I don't much miss xedit, but flist combined the features of a directory utility with a shell, and that enabled some amazing funcionality.

I prefer The Little Engine That Could. He came with his own Reality Distortion Field(TM), "I think I can, I think I can!"
...so I recently changed careers. I'm now a reporter.
Yeah, only not so much with the 'honey.'

Oh, wait a minute...
Yeah, plus we all saw Superman compress a lump of coal into a huge diamond for his high school crush, Lana Lang. Superman wouldn't lie!
Well...thats not the only reason
"Honey, I can't believe you want to spend $125 on _another_ hard drive for your stupid computer!"

"Uhm...nevermind, enjoy your new harddrive; I'll be over here."
What can be more romantic than men dying for your jewelry?
:)
</sarcasm>
Sarcasm? Clearly, you've never met a woman.
Yeah, ground-to-LEO is the killer. Perhaps use large railguns to get the pieces in orbit, and assemble there?
Look at the _bones_, man!
I say rename it the 'Vorpal Drive,' and have at it. Tally-ho, to the stars!
