Screw the extra buttons, go for a scrollwheel! My optical scrollwheel mouse died, and I'm using my backup Logitech WingMan balled non-scrolling mouse. Ugh. I _love_ the shape (best mouse shape EVAR), and I could live without an optical mouse, but no scrollwheel? That's just messed-up.
MS's Bluetooth mouse looks pretty sweet - I may wind up trying that.
I'm surprised with Apple being so concerned with design and such, that they haven't gone with an ergonomic keyboard layout yet. Very strange.
The Hubble is not designed to focus on anything even remotely that 'near'. It's not even designed to work to maximum effect on anything within the solar system, but it has been used to that purpose previously. But imaging the Earth? No way. Plus there are already numerous such satellites already in orbit that are designed to do that as their primary job. That would be a big waste.
No, keeping the Hubble in orbit is a great idea, even after the new one goes up - the Hubble can still be used by other astronomers who can't get time on the new one.
They said this game would, and I quote, "kick ass!"
This game did not kick any ass. Not my ass, nor any other asses. There was no ass-kicking included, which the box CLEARLY stated it would.
This is clearly a case of false advertising, if not breach of contract. I demand my rights! This is an outrage, and an affront to man and God. An abomination of the highest order! No ass kicking, whatsoever. Amazing to think they could get away with this. What arrogance! This is fargin' war - I'm gonna rip them a new icehole! Fargin' bastidges.

I think a great thing for the Apple community as a whole would be to set up a repository of excuses to get a G5 system. I wonder if g5excuses.org is taken...
1) Not subject to the MSBlaster worm 2) Quieter than a G4 3) Non-plastic case 4) Reality Distortion Field(tm) upgraded to be Tempest-proof. 5) Earns good karma 6) No floppy 7) No-button mouse (really, no buttons - the whole mouse is the button now) 8) It makes me happy, and a happy worker is a productive worker! 9) I'll never leave the office again 10) I know where you live...
One thing to note is that is crashed the RPC service on a couple of fully patched clients, but for most of them it had no effect. On the ones that it did infect (IE, the ones that weren't patched), it disabled file copying through the GUI (both drag&drop and copy&paste). It also disables a number of odd things, mostly dialogs, like IE's "Find (on this page)" Between those two I suspect it infected at least one system DLL. Something it did didn't agree with Word, which would popup up an error on creating a new document, saying that the document could not be registered, so other documents would not be able to link to this one.
Hmm, that sounds about right for normal operation - are you sure the systems are infected?;)
True, but, you shouldn't think of a _floppy replacement_ in terms of how the rewrites compare to, say, a harddrive, but in how appropriate is it for the task, especially as compared to what it replaces. Also the technology change involved in implementing the new tech. Pretty much every computer comes with a USB port (or 4 or 6 or 8) these days. Many do not come with rewritable optical drives.
> The tranfer speed is abysimal, and in no way, shape, or form could take advantage of the faster firewire transfer speeds.
Good point to bring up, but do you know for a fact that's true? Are the USB 2.0 "high speed" drives meeting the speed of the flash memory, or limiting it? Flash memory may not be as fast as FireWire '2', but it may be faster than USB 2 - I dunno. One thing I do know - flash memory will get faster over time, as all memory does.
Sorry, I didn't have my "forbidden words" list with me. I actually made a list of those from crap I heard around the office a few years ago. Frightening stuff. I also forgot to put something in there about going after the "low hanging fruit.":(

If that's something students actually LEARN at college, it will be money well-spent, and provide a better real-life education than anything else they'd learn in school.
I always thought something like these would make great floppy replacements, but it looks like USB flash drives are gonna do that first. That's OK - solid state storage rawks, and their capacity is already well over that of even the 210Meg CD-R(/W) mini-CDs.
Here's to hoping they come out with FireWire '2' (IEEE1394.b) flash drives! *cheers*
Hahahahahaha! Preview first. That's a good one. You crack me up. *snort* Preview first. Next you'll be talking about reading the linked articles before posting.

Okay, important safety tip...when you get hit by the 20-second rule, do NOT hit the back button. Simply wait as long as you should have, hit reload, and tell it to resend the data - no retyping those long and brilliant posts! Yay.
Please, please, no applause... just throw money.:)
Yep, definitely not the one I'm looking for. I love the shape of the Atari 800. I'm gonna rip out the keyboard and put in a flat surface there, plus a lot of other work. Thanks anyway.
Big deal - the sump pump in my basement can beat _that_.

I love that movie.

Field Marshall Ashcroft doesn't take the lumps, he GIVES the lumps. Best you remember that, boy.

Don't strategize, innovate! Synergize! Focus on your core competencies and maximize ROI! Mmm, yeah, I $mell profit!
Newer mini-CDs now fit up to 210Meg, FYI.
And they have R/W versions, as well. Nifty!

That name is so bad, the only thing worse would be 'Crapeon'. Someone needs to get canned over that one.
The market fluctuates more than that. Considering how much they've also got in the bank, that's just "walking around" money.
Can you say, 'Rounding Error'?
I knew you could.

I have it happen to me in Mozilla. It might have to do with some settings regarding form field data, though I'm not sure.

Yes, that's what's making the search so hard - nobody seems to sell broken ones on eBay.
