    Opera is always the second or third, but in ALMOST EVERY benchmark. That means something.

    It's not always about the technology, otherwise we'd all be using Amigas with Dvorak keyboard layouts.

    Or OS/2. Or BeOS. It's a long list, even in the computer world.

    However, anyone who think it is okay to take property from group A and give it to group B is a communist. You can't take it from group A unless you believe property is yours to take.... held in common.

    Okay, then, so you're giving up: medicare, social security, non-toll roads, all forms of insurance, public schools, libraries, the armed forces, etc? Guess what, all those things are possible ONLY by taking stuff from Group A and giving it to Group B. Throwing around words like socialism and communism is just further proof you're impossibly ignorant. But that's okay, because I'm sure it FEELS true to you.

    They forever screwed themselves because they used to charge people to use it. When there's a ton of competition, and it's free? Yeah.

    So did Netscape, which eventually turned into Firefox. I don't think that has anything to do with it. Opera has great technology, and no understanding of what most users want in a (default) user interface. They also seem to have no clue that most users never change default settings, so it doesn't matter how configurable it is.

    You mean like how they didn't test with Opera 10.70 beta? Or how they didn't even use the latest release version of 10.62?

    That's not surprising - Opera hasn't caught on, and probably never will. You know the difference between Opera and technologies like Amiga and OS/2? Me, neither. "You hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability." And lemme tell ya, being an Opera user doesn't make you Neo. *shrug*

    They must mean to an EXTERNAL display, because the display on the device is only capable of 600 pixels vertically, which is pretty far from 720p, much less the 1080p of 'full HD'.

    If the actual content holds your interest (and I admit, about the only example of that which I can think of is Avatar) you don't even notice.

    The only reason Avatar kept my interest was by keeping me busy counting how many times Cameron ripped off his VASTLY superior prior movie, Aliens.

    What exactly is the point of jetpacks supposed to be? They don't seem to be useful for any civilian or military purposes that other technologies aren't more appropriate. Is the obsession with jetpacks just about being like a comic book superhero?

    Look, sometimes you need an emergency escape plan, like if the Slayer comes after you just because you try to take over Sunnydale. I mean, c'mon, ALL the cool evil kids try to take over Sunnydale! It's a right of passage!

    Besides, if you're a Joss Whedon fan with a jetpack, you can be like a leaf on the wind! A very LOUD leaf on the wind. With a similar lifespan as a Whedon show, probably.

    And in conclusion, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, might I just add that if you don't understand the appeal of a jetpack, you're dead inside. And that's sad.

    Command Line Interface? Check.
    Music-quality sound? Check.

    C64 was 'music quality'? It was nothing comapred to the Amiga. And the Amiga had a GUI with a CLI (that was still in GUI mode, which was why it was a slow CLI). Methinks you might want to actually fire up those Amigas behind you. :)

    And saying both were 'less than 0.01 GHz in speed' doesn't compare them very well. One is less than 1MHz, and one is around 7MHz, one 8-bit, one 16-bit. They were nothing alike aside from the company name.

    You would get exactly the same "feel" as you get with an old C=64 or Atari or Amiga machine.

    If you think the 'feel' is the same between a C64 and an Amiga, you never used them, or you have a REALLY bad memory.

    Android 2.2 doesn't support HD displays (only via video out like HDMI), unless they've extended it somehow. Otherwise we'll have to wait for Gingerbread (3.0?). 2.2 only supports up to something like 854x480 for the main display, I'm pretty sure.

    Yes, Steve Jobs wants Adobe gone or under his control for a variety of reasons, but if Flash was less bloated, it would've been on the iPhone immediately.

    Right, because Steve Jobs lets difficult technical issues stop him getting what he wants. Steve Jobs isn't doing you any favors by removing choice. If you have Flash capability, you can choose to use it or not, like the rest of us already do. If there's some site or application or game that simply won't work without it, you're screwed. Choice is always good.

    Heh. Even with four cores and 4 gigs of RAM, I still automatically Noscript Flash, for "technical" reasons.

    Exactly so - you have that choice; no one decided for you.

    Generally, if you're intelligent enough to fear one STD, you're intelligent enough to fear all of them. I find it hard to imagine someone whose promiscuity hinges on the existence of a cure for just one of them.

    Well, one kills you and the other doesn't. High-order risk vs low-order risk. Combine that with human nature, and I bet you'll see a massive resurgence in Herpes cases once HIV is cured.
