Really, have you used a TV Wonder VE? Or are you just talking out of your ass?
I have played with a Tivo. I know how the recordings look.
The ATI card has a hardware MPEG2 encoder on board. It will produce video every bit as good as the broadcast it is recorded from. Who cares if a Tivo will record at DVD quality, if the source is broadcast or cable?
Since the encoding is done on the tuner card, 1GHZ is more than enough. All the recordings I have done are quite good. Picture is clear, movement is fluid, no noticable pixelation and the sound is crisp and in syc. The m1000 has a hardware MPEG2 decoder on the MB, so I have encoding and decoding being done in hardware.
Do not make the mistake of assuming low cost is low quality.
I recently completed my "ToolBox PC" with a m1000 mini-itx board (1GHZ CPU, TV out, etc.) built into a small toolbox. I included an ATI TV Wonder VE card for PVR functionality.
So far it works great. The MB, PS, DVD and HDD all fit in the bottom. The tray at the top holds an IR mouse/KB and cables when I go portable.
I can play games on it (as long as they don't require monster level 3D), watch movies, etc.
The ATI card has it's own full function TV guide. It lacks "pause live TV" and commercial skip, and doesn't support Linux (Win2000 though), but hell, I only paid $9.00 for it (rebate + special price reduction + 15% off).
No, you would have a hydrogen powered car. Hydrogen can be created in fixed plants that could make clean use of coal or oil. All existing pollution gear could be removed from cars, making them lighter and more efficient.
There are also deposits of frozen methane under the ocean floor. If an easy way could be found to mine this it would provide a pretty much limitless supply of hydrogen.
The problem with renewable energy sources like wind and solar is they are "surge" sources. The only produce on windy/sunny periods. Hydrogen production is a superb method to harness this type of power.
Plus the fact that 60-80% of p2p bandwidth is pr0n. I would not be suprised if to 80% of *ALL* net traffic (web, usenet, p2p, email, etc.) is pr0n or pr0n related.
It seems a lot depends on the weather. BOTH shuttle disasters have been caused by weather. The first was caused by frozen o-rings and the second by rain soaked foam.
Thank you for weighing in on SB 213. I began studying it over the weekend and have also referred to information available from the Electronic Frontier Foundation. I must admit that this is an area with which I have little familiarity, but the legislation could be problematic for the reasons you address. I appreciate your taking the time to assist by bringing this to my attention.
Please stay in touch.
Sincerely,
Mark Norris Senator

Sir,
As one of you constituates, I wish to state my opposition to Tennessee Senate Bill 213. The bill has some valid points, but the flaws outweigh the possible good.
The bill is too broad and gives too much power to communications providers. If taken to extremes, VCRs, network routers and other useful (you could say essential) devices could be outlawed.
As an attorney, please take a few minutes to read through the bill and imagine possible scenarios where the bill could be abused.
Senator Norris wanted you to see today's coverage of yesterday's Senate Judiciary Committee's hearing. Thanks, in part, to your input, he had more questions to ask the sponsor than they could answer, and the bill will be taken up again in two weeks. Senator Norris shares concerns about the extent to which this proposal may infringe upon certain fundamental rights, including Due Process and Free Speech, and he will continue to work on it. He thanks you for your input and support.
I just finished my Toolbox PC. It's a mini-itx m10000 MB, HDD, DVD and little emachine PS built into a plastic toolbox. An ATI TV Wonder VE card makes it into a portable PVR, among other things (DVD player, MP3 player, DVD ripper, mame box, etc.).
So far, it works great. I am still trying out all the features on the ATI card. I used it to record Enterprise the other night and it came out very nice.
I spent the weekend building one into a small toolbox. e-machine PS, 3.5in HD, short DVD drive, ATI TV Wonder VE, with room in the top tray for cables and a wireless KB.
It's a portable Tivo/DVD/Divx/MP3/low end game/whatever box.
We tried surgical strikes. We tried sanctions. We tried diplomacy. Saddam did not care. He had gotten away with evasion and blowing off the inspectors for a dozen years. He really didn't think anyone would take him on. He was wrong.
As for the WMD, I don't know how much we will find, but we will find what's there. I don't think Saddam destroyed them. He either sold them (in which case we waited too damn long to strike) or hid them. Iraq is a big, barren country.
As to foreign wars, sometimes you just have to take the war to the other guy. It sucks, but beats the hell out of fighting him in your back yard.
I have seen no concrete figures on civilian deaths. One is too many, but we get better at limiting them all the time.
The US, the UK and Poland are running Iraq. The US will be footing the bulk of the bills.
BTW, I have lived in Europe. i have had to deal with protesters. I was in the military and let's just say I know a bit about WMD.
Personally, I would prefer the government keep their nose out of my business and their hand out of my pocket.
I can improve my own life just fine, thank you. The government should stick to doing what the Constitution says they can and should do, like national defense.
BTW, the "american ppl" approve of the war in Iraq by about 68-78%...

Cancel cable service.
The piss would be quite refreshing after a belgian beer. It would wash the nasty taste out of my mouth.
You do know that most televisions allow you to "delete" channels you don't watch? Channel surfing is a lot smoother.
Inconceivable!
What the hell do these no TV no-goodnicks watch PORN on?

Belgian beer is the *WORST* swill I have ever tasted. I have drunk beer all over Europe. Some is good, some is great. Belgian beer sucks.
Not to mention the fact that you said a *VERY* dirty word...
There is no dupe check...
mmmmm, duck...
I thought the smile was because she wasn't going to get stabbed in the liver anymore.
It looked to me like the hellmouth was open, in a big way...
