If not, then you don't know what the _____ you are talking about. The idea that you would let your kid have lock out from you in this day and age.... well I can't give it better treatment than South Park did.
I believe that has part of some settlements that happened with Microsoft ( when they got the non-voting shares etc ) Apple got the rights to the Win32 api as part of the deal.
As far as I know adobe's contributions have not landed TOT in webkit, and where submitted through the normal public process. I don't think that apple could have gotten a gift from adobe to drop on them and then made this happen in that time frame. I think it is more likely that they have been working on the same thing, and that Apple just didn't comment when adobe dropped on webkitdev and mentioned their efforts.
Can back your statement up? Perhaps I missed something.
I posted a comment to Jonathan Schwartz's blog
asking him to open source it. This was attached to one of his blog entries about open source and java.
That comment didn't even make it past moderation.
What if they just chose the one that was best for what they where looking for?
Relating this to some kind of slight on linux is just plain stupid, and seems like a sad way of almost searching for a reason to draw the conversation away from two other companies ( SUN and Apple ) back to Linux.
"Yes, that's the typical Apple solution: you can sort of use it, but if you really want to use it, you have to commit to using OS X. It's not a good proposition."
What does this have to do with what you quoted, or what Apple is doing? Apple's solution is using the ZFS. They don't own ZFS, they didn't create it, SUN did. And sun's solution isn't that if you want to use ZFS you have to use Solaris.
Although Blake is certainly out front in Firefox land, I didn't think he was the creator, at least the sole one anyway. I thought that Dave Hyatt ( now with Apple ) had quite a bit to do with that.
If I recall correctly from reading some the case material, something else MS did beyond bundling IE was to offer free lic. for Exchange and NT Server to companies for standardizing on IE and removing Netscape products, which hurt Netscape badly, since we maybe overlook their _SERVER_ side software.
I just watched the spaces demo, and I don't know of any VD implementation that looks that good. So to the original poster's sarcasm I offer this counter:
Who's implementation of Virtual Desktops is that cool, that user friendly and that well done? If not, who will be the first X related desktop to pull off copying Spaces? Will you submit that article?
I think the problem they have is that they charge $$$$$ for thier office pdf add in stuff, and if microsoft comes out with the native goods, why would anyone buy it?
" I think that this shows simply that competetion is good and can serve as a swift kick in the ass to get companies into gear and make decent products."
Are you a parent?

Apple fanboi wants to help
knows this will be good for Apple
but HATES that guy.
Dammit.

Maybe sad to you, but coming here since 98 and watching that transition has been very enjoyable for others

I was reading the spec and the part that says must support columns of tanks at least three wide seem kind of fishy.

Give it up.

Again, wtf are you talking about?
and the rest of DGenerationX

Yeah, but if it is a file server it is serving out MSOffice content.
where = were
Microsoft doesn't own any percentage of Apple. Those shares ( from 1997 ) where
*non-voting
*sold a long time ago
DECAF.

Yeah, and if you lose to them, sue them.
That France Surrenders?
"It is never going to happen. Steve Jobs has one goal - take over the world."
Yeah that is exactly what Jobs wants. Do you have a blog? I want to subscribe, since you are so smart and up on things.
