For those of you who can afford internet access, that is an easy way to justify Censorship... Not everybody in the U.S.A. has a phone line (or computer for that matter) to connect to the internet. If the Library is your only means to access and the government says to block access. That is Censorship!
I am all for a library that offers computers with and without censored access. It then could require a minor's guardian signiture to allow them access to the uncensored internet.
I can't speak about the other services, but I know in the Air Force, most of the new Airmen have a good background in computers. The Air Force went to email as the primary sorce of diseminating information to the troups about two years ago. This has had a major effect on creating an Air Force that can deal with small computer problems in the field.
I think that as long as the interface is extreemly simple to use, and the equipment is rugged enough, then this is definatly the wave of the future for all soldiers, not just the Special Ops folks.
Stands for UHF Follow On... Part of the Military Strategic Communications fleet (reads, pre-MILSTAR). Low data rate of 75 baud, used for EAM's and such. These satellites were designed to take over for the aging AFSAT fleet, but only until MILSTAR came on line. Go figure that the AFSAT birds were only supposed to fly for 5-10 years, (launched in 70's) and 'all' are still in use.
Actually the SCUD isn't an intercontinental ballistic missile, it just doesn't have the range of a true ICBM. The Treaties were written about being able to shoot down ICBM's capable of nukes, bio or chem that can be launched from any point on the planet to any point on the planet. The SCUD can be shot down with just about any current system, however an ICBM requires much more precision.
I can remember back during the start of the Gulf War, thinking that we should have been wearing full chem gear. Didn't know it then, but if Sadam Hussein had actually loaded his SCUD's with Chemicals, the missile would have been to heavy to fly the short distance from Bagdahd to Ryhadh. Of course when he started moving the missals closer to the border, thats when we started wearing full gear.
IMHO, the treaties of old no longer apply to today. And while it pains me to think we have to break them to protect ourselves. It would be much worse, for us, if we let other countries have the advantage.
As an avid D&D'er, I can't wait to see how this will turn out. Hope to see a good blend of FX and character building, but will settle for just entertaining.

>> If you turn up the radio loud, do you think your radio is going to be able to hear you in order to turn it back down?
If you use an inverse feedback circuit on the mic, the only sound the VUI will hear is anything different than what is playing on the radio.
Personally, I think we all should own a 12 GigaWatt EFH Handheld...
>>Um, where will the criminals get their guns when they are not for sale any more?
Let's see...
1) a piece of 1/2" plumbing pipe with end cap
2) drill hole for fuse
3) make Gunpowder
4) small ball bearings or marbles
Oops... so much for criminals not having guns.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the last prime number day was 7/31/1999 and the next one is 1/1/2003.
Party on!
Being in the US Military, I make $5.47 per hour here in the US... and oversees I make $5.47 per hour. Talk about needing a new line of work :-)
Me, I will be in Paris, FR. partying me bum off. If we get Nuked then my blood alcohol level will be high enough not to give a hoot!

As long as any corp. is backing any version... then it is good healthy compition!
Have you given thought to after Q3?
