Wasn't there some news recently about record numbers of unemployed veterans? Kick the private contractors out and bring in a bunch of people with security clearance and guard duty experience.
IANAL, but be advised there are procedures to get around that shielding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piercing_the_corporate_veil). I ran a software consulting business as an S-corporation years ago and got strongly worded advice to be very careful not to mix personal and company funds, to use any corporation-purchased computers for work only, and not to claim a general use room in our home as a home office for deductions.
between a wedge and an inclined plane? I guess Heron of Alexandria not having prior art on that simple machine makes it a more attractive patent target?
If you don't want to honor the checkbox to disable advertising, could you at least add a checkbox to disable video? Slashdot has been an "idle moments at work" pastime for me for years, and as such, I don't watch video -- slashvertisement or otherwise.
My sister is a graphic designer and has described to me what she calls a "button box". It's basically a second mouse where you chord motion and button, i.e. forward + left click would perform a different function than backward + right click. Assuming a five button mouse and four cardinal directions plus stationary, that's twenty-five hotkeys that you don't have to hunt and peck for.
You don't really install PuTTY, it's just a standalone executable. Whenever I need it (not at home), I tend to download it, run it from desktop, then delete when I'm done. I ssh from Cygwin normally.
"Subscribers can then watch standard copies of the 500-or-so films on its list." It sounds like they're just pre-screening films and making a database of their findings. Pretty low-tech.
I have a blind colleague whose sole monitor for his computer is spoken word. I'm sure he listens at more than 4x. Last time I visited him and asked about it, he said that he slows it down when he has visitors because some find it a little disturbing -- I could barely comprehend it at the slowed down rate. I don't think he'd be impressed by the article's 14% increase.
I already have a procedurally generated space exploration game on my wish list, Starbound

High school intro to programming should fill the same niche as shop class -- to get students interested in creating stuff.
The Silver Surfer wouldn't be detectable at astronomical ranges.

A suspicious radio control on the Setup page of my BEFW11S4:

How hard or costly could it be to shield the cockpit from the cabin?
This is the first article I've read (in memory) that spawned five pop-ups upon following the primary link. A pox on greedy posters!
When I bought my GBA SP at Electronics Boutique, I traded in my old GBA for $35 and my old GBC for $5.
I hope Sony doesn't pay for Aibo product placement.
