MS has a discontinued line of products from Access Point/Routers to wireless adapters (PCCard, PCI, USB). The MN-700(?) Router was similar in hardware to the very popular Linksys WRT54G and other's that used Linux firmware, but, the MS version used a Windows CE based firmware.
Since a very high % of all ISP Contracts are based on monthly terms (even if you pay for a year) then I'd wager that this is 3GB / mo. Once you've downloaded 3GB of data, your connection drops. I could read the story, but, speculation is more fun.
>>This is a great way to avoid having to use a DOS boot disk. Yes it creates the potential that a user can screw up their machine, but it also makes bios flashing really easy. Got 500 identical machines, simply push out an update. Easy. Sorry but your the minorty here and most users would welcome this.
Add me to the list that does NOT want to see this. Win32Bios + VBScriptTrojan/Virus = AHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Not that virii don't already trash bios' but it's not as widespread as MS apparently wants it to be!
I suppose that "dual" bios option will then become the standard in the next 2-3yrs.
>But then again, I've never been very good at throwing, compared to catching, anyway. I don't know how many times I've hit my wife in the head, accidentally, of course with something I was throwing to her.
It's always/fun/ to blame that on poor throwing skills, isn't it?

The problem with wiring two different homes together is that they are on different electrical 'grounds.' Thus you can actually have problems where the network cable ends up carrying a voltage it shouldn't because one ground is at a different potential than another. At least that's how I remember reading about it.
IANAElectrician, so, someone else can probably explain it better.

I hadn't gotten the impression, from the report, that it was ready for human use. I remember reading it had to be tested and was years away from approval. Thus, it's probably not the/same/ technology, but, it is related.
I did take that (the security cage) into consideration. The problem is, to me, still the display in relation to the controls, you have to hold the whole unit at a very specific angle to get the best picture and for the few minutes I used it it felt uncomfortable. Perhaps if I was relaxed in a comfortable chair with a good light source it wouldn't be as bad. I just wonder how useful that scenario is for a "portable" gaming system.
I was able to preview one w/ the Super Mario game at Best Buy. The unit looks heavier than it feels. Even with the security cage and wire on it it felt VERY light in my hands.)
Standing there, under the warehouse high Flor. Lights the display was viewable and playable but it lacked contrast. I guess at that pricepoint, what can you expect. Maybe GameBoy Advanced TfT is in our future? With LithIon Batteries... hmmm... an organizer cartridge and some flashram...:-)
As for the game itself, Super Mario was definitely NES / SNES Quality. So, step back in time and enjoy the 2D Graphics and Gameplay as you remembered them.
I did NOT like the placement of the DPAD controls and buttons in relation to the display. I only used it for a few minutes, but maybe they'd grow on me after a while. The problem was holding the unit at the right angle to light/see the display made the buttons seem out of place (and vice versa).
Not sure if the link you reference meets the following:
'Hill said his plane will meet the international definition of a model: It must weigh only 11 pounds and be hand-launched. "That's the real challenge," he said.'
They talked about others too:
"Technically, his model won't be the first robot plane to cross an ocean.
Earlier this week, an Air Force robot spy plane successfully flew 8,600 miles across the Pacific from California to Australia. And three years ago, a private unmanned weather reconnaissance plane reportedly crossed the Atlantic from Newfoundland to Scotland.
But the Air Force drone is bigger than a jetliner, and the weather plane weighed 29 pounds and was launched from the roof of a car.
Back when I used to do OS/2 support you'd get the occasional story how someone thought putting their swap file onto a RAM Disk would increase performance.

Wow, no points for me to mod this up, but, that's hilariously true!

If you do cave:
What's to say they'll still pay you if you DO sign the new contract? They can still hold the money and NOW they only are liable for that!
Make sure they have the money (Cashiers Check) at the time of contract signing, use escrow, or something so that they don't get 'ya twice!
