However adding functionality to said player with certain cards means at least a couple power users are destined to plunk down a bit of extra change for one.

Most cars don't have a 14k redline. With the smaller engines you tend to wring the life out of them to get more power. Still, 70mpg is impressive in my book. If I wanted better then that I could step down to a 50cc and get around 100mpg... but then I couldn't hit the freeways.

Now, would you say that this act has lightened or darkened your world?

Neither. With all the deepest respect to those that lost people in the attack, the events on september 11th changed my live very little other then the fact that I have to wait longer in line at the airport.

The danger of such an attack happening has been there for years and the incompetence of the security staff at the majority of airports will ensure that something similar will be possible in the future.

Living ones life in constant terror of the possibilities of the uncontrollable is foolish. The economy, which was generally in decline before Sept. 11th, has darkened my world more then said events ever could. But that's just because my options are underwater.

My point is, allowing art to effect your reality in a negative light is one of the worse things you can do with your life. Art and media are the expressions of individuals or groups and unless they directly effect you, can be shrugged off with just a little effort that can lead to a happier life.

Regardless, art isn't, nor will it ever be the problem with society. The problem lies within its people and their ability to comprehend and function in reality.

Why not just demand that parents do their jobs and actually teach their children the difference between reality and fantasy. At the very least they could put the PS2 in the living room and monitor little johnny's playing habits if actually teaching him about life is unacceptable.

If you truely think video games are the cause of a violent society then I feel sorry for you. Art and media are reflections of a society, not their determiners. Take a look around at all the other things that are wrong in the world before you point fingers at a video game and scream "It's all your fault."
