Thanks for explanation. Here I thought that maybe that was due to Vista being a brick of crap and Leopard (probably) a great new OS, but you cleared that up.
Theoretically - there's nothing wrong with that. DB server is just another TCP server and most of those have their own security layer (user/pass etc) built-in. If not for bugs and exploits, and provided that you change default passwords, it's pretty OK.
That's like saying that "my only gripe with cars is that they have 4 wheels and wider than my bike". Lack of keyboard is _defining_ attribute of iPhone, so what are you talking about?
Yes, there are "better" WinMobile or even Symbian phones for geeks. I'm not at all sure my mom (or my dad for that matter) will ever be able to figure them out fully. I played with iPhone and I don't think it's for me, but I can clearly see why people would want it - screen is really good, phone part (hw & interface) is _great_, it's _small_, does not look gay (unlike most Nokia models) or brickish (S/E), interface is _new_ and quite impressive, touchscreen works great and does not need stylus - you can even use it with one hand for many things. For most people that's what matters. And with official SDK coming out I'm sure there'll be great games, PIM apps, etc soon.
And as for overpriced = iPhone is only 20-25% higher than your average smartphone (and 8GB micro-SD cards are not yet quite free, BTW).
$SUBJ. If so (they gonna "tivoize" it as RMS would say) I'm sure backlash will be huge. If not - it's pretty clear that "Java-only" will not hold for more than a day or two.
Just use DVD, dude. It has won. At the time you can say for sure that either HDDDDDDVD or BluRay won there will be a _new_ experimental but gaining strength technology with 100+ GBs per disc and you'll just decide to wait for it. Ad infinitum.
You don't understand, do you? KDE is first and foremost the API to develop consistent desktop apps. KDE4 will also include unified multimedia system and that would be the only thing rivaling Windows + DirectX (and of course, surpassing it). Comparing KDE to your launcher of choice is like comparing MS Windows to TotalCommander or something. And, KDE is not ugly in my opinion at all (unless you have a poor choice of widget theme and window decoration), I think it's really, really nice with Polyester + Crystal, for example.
Are they gonna start regarding KDE as first-class citizen? 'Cos Gutsy Kubuntu is a joke. And GNOME IMO is totally evil.
You know, after using Kubuntu for quite a long time and recently having played with PCLinuxOS I think I understand now why it has moved to #1 at Distrowatch. It rightly deserves the spot.
Really - except in HDD marketing is there any use for 10^x measurement of bytes? And no - if you say that SI should be uniform I don't buy it - SI prefixes only measure continuos (better word?) values, not discrete things like bytes and bits. You can't have 1.3932 bytes can you? And GiBi is so gay on many levels - for once - what's that mixing greek and latin. Why Gi - just because it's _close_ to Giga of 10^9? Etc etc. Then there's the issue of history and culture.
Now that HDD manufacturers acknowledge that their Gigabyte is not _the_ proper Gigabyte can we stop this XxBi bullshit? Pretty please?
Wikipedia thinks that it's bigger than it is and that's the start of its downfall in my opinion. It become too anal-retentive for me not to want to make any (more) contributions. All this excessive markup ("citation needed" etc), KB -> KiB gayness, AD -> CE too... And still many pages are crappy indeed or missing.
If I ever buy one (and I really wanted it with initial specs/price. Oh, well - if they produce not-much-more-expensive 1024xXXX version there's still a chance). So - if I do I intend to buy a 16 or 32 gig SD card and use it as my data partition (read-only system may well be on "internal" flash). When SD cards start wearing out I move all my data to a new card. Will that work?
I doubt - suppose - 60% of my drive is full (data written) and 40% is free. Now I need to write a block of data to it. Where would the flash drive put it? It needs to pick a block that has no data written to it, right? Without having details from FS layer how would that work at all?
Still, Yandex is unbelievable crap - results-quality wise. I'd say Top3 go in reverse in this parameter. But the problem I think - apart from advertising (Y had a rather big ad campaign some time ago) - is that Google seriously dropped the ball and showed huge negligence and ignorance when entering local market unprepared - for example, their engine did not even search for different wordforms and Russian of course has an ultra-developed word endings system. So - at first - Google was 99% useless. Plus - Y had been around the longest and most people simply don't care about switching.
Of course it has nothing to do with differences between "managed code" and native, right?
Vistasaurus.
... but all I can say about it is that E8 is one wicked smilie.

I agree, but there could be an easy fix for that - Apple should make a keyboard version with horizontal layout. Wider keys would rock.

No, thanks.

Mod me down, Apple-o-phobes
25 GB scratch-proof vs 15 GB scratchable... Yeah - they are roughly equal.
I thought all companies established long ago that "smart users" market is so tiny it can safely be ignored.

Amazing how "atheistic", "rational" people are ready to believe all kinds of bullshit if there's a word "science" in it.
BTW, except of Mark's past, why do they serve almost everything over HTTPS?

Reminds me of that competion in "Ah, Megami-sama".
Cock. Suck it.

Tits... sorry, exploit examples, or GTFO.
What would be the app you'd most want on _iPod Touch_?
