I have to say that this sounds even worse than having lost two disks.
If the inventory of classified resources included completely imaginary items then how can it be trusted at all? If people assume that the inventory is wrong, then how will they know if something actually goes missing?
Sorry, but I agree with the government - if these guys managed classified data so poorly they deserve to be fired and fined.
The trash comes to Pennsylvania (as opposed to New Jersey or to staying locally) because Pennsylvania's state laws permit it. The feds control the highways, but what happens to the trash when it leaves the road is controlled locally.
The only problem is that the federal government doesn't handle waste removal - that's a state/local responsibility.
If the feds collect money for recycling and then divvy it up among the states, which then divvy it up among the counties, that means 80% of the money is going to get sucked up by administrative overhead.
Because Mac OS X uses the netinfo database for a lot of config data, doing things like ifconfig by hand (even modifying the/etc/ files directly) can lead to inconsistent results.
Use system preferences and the net info manager wherever possible. There are command line variants for most of them, but they aren't well documented.
I'm not saying don't use ifconfig - just be sure you know what you're doing.
that is completely false. As has been posted elsewhere on this thread, the NIH even has guidelines on how to do privately-funded stemcell research without impacting your other research grants.
Embryonic stem cells are easier to work with but they also have all sorts of problems when it comes to developing therapies - for example, causing tumors.
Placental and adult stem cells are more limited but are also being used in a number therapies today; they shouldn't be conflated with the more problematic fetal tissue.
The only difference between a Mac iPod and a Windows iPod is the formatting of the HD. Because Macs understand FAT32, a Windows iPod will work on a Mac, but because Windows doesn't understand HFS+, a Mac iPod will not work with a PC.
if it was actually true, and didn't cause brain tumors instead of curing the disease.
The truth of the matter is that claims of disease cures from embryonic stem cells are as wildly overblown as every other medical fad. It is in the researcher's vested interests to promise the sky and I, for one, have no intention of compromising my morals for a bag full of promises.
And where do those great returns on treasuries come from?
From your tax return, dummy.
So whether or not you call it a crisis, in about ten years taxes are going to start going way up as Social Security starts redeeming all those nice safe treasury bonds.
How did she compare to other students from the same school?
We already know that the average math ability of Japanese students is higher than the average ability of American students, so your argument is less a refutation of Mr. Harvard Guy than it is a beautiful example of the failure of the American education system.
Please show me the constitutional ammendment that protects anoymous sources.
Oh, by the way. If I publish your social security number and all your bank account numbers on a web site, is that protected free speech, too? Or an ev1l invasion of your privacy?
Different disks, different investigation. You'd think Los Alamos would have learned after that previous investigation, but apparently not.
That scandal was during the Clinton administration. Apparently this was a new security review.

I wonder what the difference is? Obviously you aren't the only one to have this problem, since he warns about it on the page.
The odd thing is, I have one of the very first 15" AlBooks and the driver works fine for me. Is your machine the same generation than mine or newer?

What does the federal government have to do with waster removal and recycling?
Oh yeah, nothing. Which means this "Administrative fee" will be swallowed by the maw that is the federal budget and yet nothing will get recycled.
The last Amiga model was released in 1993. Amigas were being by Commodore till their bankruptcy in 1994.
Ratings deflation is the real reason there are "so few" M rated games.
I do everything from tcsh anyway.
My preferred mouse has three buttons and a scroll wheel and they all work just fine.
By the way - from looking at your sig I guess you didn't go to an inner city high school, or you would know the answer to that question.
I'm twitching on the subject of ifconfig at the moment because I'm in the middle of writing device drivers for Mac.
Careful with that.

Glad to see you can tell the difference between embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells and placental blood.
Glad to hear that educated people like you control the future of our species.

Check the FAQ.
Using private money to do embryonic stemcell work does not affect your other research in any way.

Personally, I'd prefer a PCI-X slot so I could throw an Infiniband adapter in there.
That's great.

but actually I scored a copy of Office X for $50 bucks as part of a continuing education deal from the Evil Empire itself.
Anyways, the "student" version of Office 2004 is relatively cheap.
The first question a Windows user asks me when I bring my powerbook to work is "how do you read word files?"
Followed by acute disbelief when I tell them I have Office installed.
