  3. Re:What they will really drink on California Gets Past the Yuck Factor With "Toilet To Tap" Water Recycling · · Score: 1

You'd be surprised at how powerful psychology is in convincing someone that something is true. If people think that tap water is disgusting, then they'll psyche themselves out to taste it as disgusting even if it's perfectly fine. The stigma of tap water already motivates people to buy and drink bottled water, even though it's the same product with even less regulatory oversight. You and I might know there's no problem, but the emotionally-driven proles out there will disagree, and they make the decisions around here.

You're anti-vaxx and libertarian? Why am I not surprised.

If it makes you feel better, think of California as a privately-owned club. The club is owned by its citizens who elect board members who can set rules for everyone in the club, such as your kid needing to be vaccinated in order for them to attend one of the club's official educational facilities. Don't like it? Too bad, you can always vote with your dollars/feet and join some other club that enjoys the risks of endangering their children's health.

Our private club wants to discriminate against those who threaten the health of others in the club, which as a libertarian you should be perfectly fine with. Freedom of association, right?

Are you really trying to justify being irritatingly pedantic in order to somehow enhance the discussion? All it has accomplished is this timewasting derail.

Online posts are such absurd crapshoots of appeals to authority and opinion as fact, even people (myself included) who seem to know what they're talking about spout so much profound misinformed nonsense and outright fantasy it's hilarious to take anything read online seriously. On the internet nobody knows you're a dog, nobody.
