So... just keep the organism as is, treat waste in an oxygen free environment. Simple, effective, expensive to treat existing contamination, but at least the organism cannot cause trouble if it cannot live in the open.
well. I just think it is sad that people know so little about the history of their prime medium.
uuencode, base64. wget.
Thee have all been mentioned, but the ability to hack together means to send messages under any circumstances is our history. It is the way the internet was built.
Is this really the state of geek culture? "How the hell do I do this?" rather than going out, looking things up and making it happen?
The spec that matters most to me is the idle time power. The phenom processors have tended to be on the high side.
Tom's hardware has an interesting commentary on this in its review. The i7 processor has a much lower power consumption at idle. However, the power consumption of an intel system as a whole is much higher.
The AMD Phenom II contribution to the ring seems to be an improvement in this respect, with lower idle power than ye olde phenom.
Nobody is going to write a virus to infect an operating system that stops a virus from being effective. I haven't used osX, however, my understanding is that it is a true multi-user system. It has the the concept of root. If you run something as a user, you should not be able to infect ANY of the software on the computer. This makes it hard to build an effective virus.
Worms, trojan horses, spyware? Macs are as vulnerable as any other system, solaris if you like.
A billboard, I don't know. The fliers that appear in my mailbox ARE spam. If you've ever sent off for a mail in rebate, you get more snail mail spam. Follows the same characteristics, is equivalent in my mind.
I don't have a radio in my car. I have a tv at home to watch dvds, and, if I ever find one with an ad on it, I'll return it. I paid for the dvd. I have the right to watch it without advertising.
Why do I have my computer plugged in to the internet? good question, but what has that got to do with ads? I have firefox, and adblock to spamfilter websites for me.
started with x windows I cannot stand the ms-windows environment. It doesn't work right. You can't maximize ONLY vertically xor horizontally. Your current task MUST be the one on top. No virtual desktop. No choices/configurability.
Basically, I've always found ms-windows to be confining. I get claustrophobic.
The only time I spent any length of time running ms.. I was typing into a terminal window onto a unix box.
Granted ms-windows xp has fixed some of the problems I have with ms stuff. The problem is, they've not done enough, and they're trying to charge me 5-10 times the worth of the environment.
I have not read the article, but isn't this one of the points? You do not simulate humans, at least not all of the time. It could be just as likely that you are fighting against your commander or your best buddy, and you won't know about it.
If you can come up with a system that allows *NIXes to load different libraries based on the state of the UI, you can have tar bring up a completion bar.
When this is done, It won't matter what UI, as long as there is a 'display' library set built to provide the 'proper' UI eye candy, the "appropriate" display will be made.
Whether this should be done or not is the developers problem. I wouldn't use it.

If you have electronic cards, they can be read.
The only thing that is new here is that the same reader can be used by cards for 2 countries.
Even if you do not have the same tech, they can very easily be read in a different country. This is just a cost cutting measure for the us.

Summary; If you are going to use magic to index your web site, be smart about it. Don't just blindly use a tool that "does the job".
Nothing new here.
oh man.. how long am I going to have to wait for the sequel to this post?
1. shoot self in foot
2. empty cartridge into foot
3. market product instead?
4. profit!?

using unix is still a no-brainer.
I was looking for the actual patent #s (Patent 6,112,227 (Heiner) and Patent No. 6,199,102 (Cobb), as per an internet news story.
When I tried to return there via the mailblocks press page, all the links pointed back to mailblocks.
Looks to me like they are trying to hide those patent numbers. But it could just be a bug in their web site.

Of course not that is the way M$FUD works.
