Thanx. Ya I can't wait either, it should be REALLY powerful. I believe they show Corel Linux off at Comdex in Las Vegas on Nov. 15th.. Thats the official LAUNCH date from what I understand.

COREL by the way just went to $9. who ever
isn't onboard with the stock now.. well.. is about to miss the boat on a FORTUNE. Simply put.. INVEST in Linux! Your money won't only make you rich, but also help push Linux into the forfront. :)

yes, I've seen ALOT of comments like that.. Where people are getting ICQ to load, but not to connect. I see the same things mentioned in WINEHQ's appdatabase. I wonder if it has anything to do with them still working on the WINSOCK implemntation? How would I go about getting my problem submitted to the WineDev team so that they might see the light and start working faster on it? For me.. Its the ONLY THING still keeping me in windows.. I value communication, and sadly, I choose to have all my contacts right thru ICQ.. and its hard to switch away from that, or to give up all the features ICQ DOES offer. And it
sounds like WINE is VERY close to having ICQ work, which is excellent news.. but lets see if we can add some fuel to the fire, as I'm sure I'm not the only want that wants to run it under wine.. :)

Now if Licq supports the SAME ICQ Database format, or provides a means of converting it.. THEN that would be awesome and I would jump on Licq in a heart beat.. until then.. I'm looking forward to an OFFICIAL ICQ Linux release, or ICQ working under WINE so that I can continue to use the same database.

when.. and WON. So they have to sit back and
watch Corel do the same thing to them. Corel is
going to show the Linux Distro on Nov. 15th... It'll have Network Neighborhood, My Computer, Control Panel, etc.. Samba will be under the hood, but you'll connect computers together the same way you do in Windows. You have NO IDEA how powerful that is! The stock is going to SHOOT UP once people see the true power of this distro!

I Checked their App database, nothing good in there, but I wonder if its possible to get it working anyway? Especially with the reimplementation of Winsock.dll?

Yes yes.. I'm a Corel stock holder, and proud of it damn it! :)

COREL is taking care of EXACTLY that problem that current windows users have. Its tough to convience someone to learn something NEW, especially when it comes to computers and people who are already SICK of everything they had to learn just to enter the wonderful world of computers.

COREL's Linux Distro will LOOK & FEEL exactly like Windows. It'll have My Computer, Network Neighboorhood, Control Panel, START, etc. Thats AWESOME. Not only that, but things will be configured JUST like they were in windows. For example.. Samba will be in the background for windows-linux linkage, but you'll still browse the network thru Network Neighboorhood, like you always have.

WINE will also be distrubuted with COREL Linux, that will allow you to run QUITE A FEW CURRENT Win32 apps. Including DirectX and 3D games. Visit http://winehq.com, check out their App database and see what they currently run. WINE is a MAJOR part of Corel's LINUX strategy.

To make a long story short, Corel is at $6 a share right now, and its going to go thru the roof when they start marketing their distro in late November. You can figure the rest out. :)

Is it just me, or is Mozilla more concerned about their Win32 release then their Linux release? Now before you guys start flamin the hell out of me..

    I just ran 10/18/1999-12 Win32 release.. I have
to say.. WOW.. It is REAL REAL nice, I love
the translation/search features, its a VERY smooth
browser, and I'm seriously thinking about running
it 100% of the time I spend in Windows.

Now I also ran the 10/17/1999-09 Linux Release (I've noticed they seem to release more Win32 nightly builds then Linux builds, why is that?)..
And I had trouble even getting it to run.. I
untared it in /root/package, put it in my path
so that it could find all those libs.. and WHAT A MESS. Its ugly, its PURE STRIPPED browser window, thats it. How come it doesn't have all the pretty stuff thats in the Win32 release? I was soo encouraged by the way the new Win32 build works, I seriously wanted to have the same thing in Linux and finally give Netscrape 4.7 the BOOT.

SO can anyone tell me if I'm an idiot or is
this just the code hard facts? That Win32 people
have a better Mozilla then Linux people? :(

I have deep faith in Corel and their distro that
is due out soon. People don't seem to realize it yet, but Corel is in a VERY good postion to dominate the OS market in general, not just the Linux market. Their Distro is for windows users, they are also working heavily on WINE. Do you know how good WINE has been getting lately? Its unbelivable the software that you can run on it now. It doesn't take much thought to see what would happen if a brandname like "Corel" comes out with a distro that not only Looks & Feels like windows, connects to windows computers, but also runs ALOT of windows software thru WINE, oh and sorry.. its not bloated, and doesn't crash. :)

PEOPLE.. This distro in many people's eyes is going to be one of the MAJOR noose-loosing steps against Microsoft. It very well is going to end up being the answer to MANY people looking to throw Micros~1 Windows out the door for good. Corporate world is big business, Redhat is pulling in good dough. BUT.. The Corporate world has alot of end-users just as the home-based market.. in the end, it costs too much to train employees on a new OS.. if the OS looks, feels, works JUST like Windows.. Its going to save a TON in Training costs. Corel is going to end up putting a big dent in Micros~1's Home and Business market. Its no mistake that they put as many programmers as they did into the WINE project. :)

I made a killing off Redhat, Yahoo, and many other companies.. ANd I definitely recommend a STRONG buy on Corel for those reasons and more.
