In America, that is currently the partisan universe we live in. You can basically bring it up from either with little to no scientific proof or any sort of true data on any topic. And that is what is being done by most, whether it be the politicians, leaders, or the sheeple following those people that call other people sheeple for following someone else. Instead of seeing something on the media "Global Warming is a hoax" or "Global Warming is melting the ice caps" and then looking into it. They just say, this is what fox/cnn/msnbc/cbs/etc says and there for that is what I believe. And to answer the question... Horrible, living in that universe is Horrible and makes me fear the future (Idiocracy anyone?)!

I believe the idea is that, you can stop working, but that basic income won't cover pot or video games (TV or other things). So in reality, you probably would still have people still doing those other jobs so that they could afford the nice house, the big tv to watch the game... afford to have friends over for dinner... to have kids, etc, etc, etc. With that, I would still be nervous with how the implement it (having all states use the same common education level for the various grade levels is great, the implementation sure did suck a little, not to mention teaching to standardized tests instead of just trying to teach).

Really? How much more for you to add something like some temperature sensors, humidity sensors, servos, etc? I can add most of those at cost of the sensor/servo/device since I can directly interface it to the Pi. Keep in mind, the Pi is not for someone that wants a tablet. It is for someone that wants to tinker, learn about electronics/software, teach about electronics/software, etc. And You can also set up a pi and access it remotely (through something like SSH). I don't have many tablets that could server as a web server, and no computers that can do that at 5volts.

About Trump and NBC/Univision. They are corporations, and if they believe someone working for them (being paid by them/etc) is not speaking to what that company's focus is, there is no reason for them to keep said person. Said person can go and talk all he wants elsewhere. Or even be in reports and interviews by the the organization/company that dropped said person. Additionally, dropping said person when the company knows they will be inflammatory makes business sense. Have reports on said person's craziness, but not actually pay said person. Thereby drawing lots of attention through their network, increasing their market share and profits. Again, you are fully free to say you don't like Vanilla ice cream, but I can say you are crazy all day long too. Free speech works both ways. As long as you are not jailed because you spoke out against vanilla ice cream, its all gravy (or chocolate syrup maybe?)!

So, to me what to do would be simple. Sure, he just won the part of life dealing with having funds to live a life... but is that all there is to life? If you are one to have a religion... I am sure there is plenty to learn there I assume he still "thirsts for knowledge"? I know money wouldn't automatically teach me everything about the cosmos. Isolation? why is he isolating himself? I kinda question the girl that left him because she wanted a more normal person. It sounded like she was concerned about his life style, not his potential life style. That to me doesn't sound like a choice of money, but a conscious choice of living a specific lifestyle. Now, one challenge I could see, he started a company, grew it well, and sold it for a bucket of money. If that was his main motivation in life (work life balance much?) he will need to re-direct his motivation. That is if he looks at it as winning that part of life. Then again I do know entrepreneurs (dealing with much smaller amounts of money) that enjoy building up the company (restaurant/etc), just to sell and start up another. I could imagine many different things I would do, free time to try my hand and research/higher degrees. Also, all my hobbies... I could spend plenty of time there. and since many of those are hobbies that can include people (its not like im just sitting there painting warhammer 40k figures all day long) I would still socialize with others. Frankly I wouldn't move far from where I am now, and would retain my same friends (I am sure they would get to receive some of my fortunate luck too). Honestly, I think I would still want to pursue some work, whether its "real" work or volunteer type work, I wouldn't want to turn to mush.

I also believe this will probably be the case... However, look at scientific research. If I start doing some deep life/culture/race/species/civilization changing research, the chances are it is happening later in life. As I make more discoveries, chances are I will have greater insight and can delve deeper into science. This would give me the ability to further scientific knowledge of our civilization without the needed retooling of the next generation (cause producing new scientists, takes time). I probably would not be one that would miss running marathons. I just need my joints to last me long enough (and well enough) til I am done (lets face it, I don't want to live forever... eventually a nice rest would be great!). If we can make more and quicker advances in science, that should speed up other components of the colonization effort (materials engineering, etc).

So... I work in the field of computers, that gives me a huge amount of validity to my scientific opinion of climate change (or any number of other things that I haven't spent years learning about to understand the intimate intricacies of those topics)... If anything, my education has taught me that complex systems can be very hard to model, and any small change can easily throw these models off course. I do not have a vast understanding of climatology though it is easy enough to see that the climate is indeed changing. Wait, What??? Now let me explain, choose one of the classic periods (Jurrasic, Triassic, etc) and note that the evidence says the climate was doing X. It changed... done... Not trying to be a smart... but the climate will change (and this includes after we are long gone), period end of story. Next... Humans, Homo-Sapiens, Westerners, whomever are doing horrible things to the environment... Nah, I don't believe it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G... (yes, I am linking to the first citation note, cause if you aren't actually looking at the references and just taking what the wiki says... well you probably should give up rites to actually reference things from here on out). Bottom line, whether we are changing the climate or it is changing of its own accord... there are far many other things we are doing to harm this blue marble. It is unfortunate that it may be more difficult for my children to walk in the woods and not find a plastic bottle sticking out of the dirt than when I was walking through the same woods when I was younger. (replace woods with beach, lake shore, or any number of other natural outdoorsie places). So, instead of bickering about he is poisoning the earth, or she is preaching doom, take a look outside and if you can honestly say you don't see where the environment is being harmed by us... then get off your chair and actually go out and breathe some air (noxious as it might be). You generally don't have to walk far to see some sign. Progress does not mean trash your environment, and protecting your environment doesn't mean living in grass yurts! There is a balance, but starting with not throwing your plastic bottle onto the beach instead of taking it back to a [Trash can or recycle can... can argue this later] is a start. And a final word, I prefer apocalypse by zombies vs pollution.

Unfortunately, there are many that will ignore ethics if they can skirt along the edge of legality and make some money or garner some power from it... There is a reason why ethics is being pushed more in colleges (at least at mine) to try to not only produce great engineers, but ethical ones too. When the leaders of our country (speaking as a US citizen here) have no issues bending ethics if it means their life is easier, better, or more profitable... it is hard for others to want to do the same. Sometimes I wonder if the ethical ones are a dieing bread or just don't get much visibility in the news.
