Personally, I feel that when you have paid your debt to society you should be no longer have to keep paying for the rest of your life with this public humiliation.
Public attitudes in the UK view paedophiles as inhuman and throughly evil. There never seems to be anything about what psychological help these people receive afterwards.
While there is no doubt that Gnome is visually attractive, has there been any empirical evaluation of Gnome from a human-computer interaction perspective, i.e. a usability study? I've certainly never come across any such testing in relation to Gnome, which is worrying.
Challenge TV on Sky Digital are reshowing old Gamesmasters from the very first episode... heaven. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6.30. Set the vid!
There's an interview with James Cameron in today's Sunday Times Culture Section over here in Ireland. Here's a quote about what his next feature will be:
[He] is prepping his eighth feature film, which he hopes to shoot next year. All he will reveal is that it will be shot in 3-D, with "action and visual effects". He denies it will be a live-action/computer-generated adaptation of the Japanese animé film Battle Angel Alita, thought that's "in the queue", along with numerous other ideas.
So it looks like Battle Angel Alita won't be his next project after all.
While it makes more and more sense to have a widescreen today these days, what with anamorphicaly-enhanced widescreen DVDs and television programmes, what real advantage is there in having a widescreen monitor? While suited to DVD playback, is there really any other reason for having such a screen that's 16:9 instead of 4:3? As the reviewer mentions, there's a lot of unused screen when doing anything besides watching a DVD. Personally I'd rather just have an enormous regular monitor than a widescreen one.
How will they react? How they usually react.

The RIAA will not be happy campers. After all, there's a reason most concert recordings are called 'bootlegs'. These recordings will be on very shaky ground legally and that's enough for the RIAA to rip them a new orifice.
Jesus, PA is right about AICN's talkback. A non-threaded forum about a half-heard rumour isn't very conductive to meaningful discussion. It makes kuro5hin look like Plato's Symposium.
Have you heard of rocket engines? They're devices which propel spacecraft when large amounts of thrust are required, such as when taking off from Earth or the moon. They emit gas. Put 2 and 2 together and get 4. Moron.
Buckle your seat belts, kids. It's gonna be a fun ride.
It certainly is. When Garriot left Origin it looked like the end of an era, but now it looks like the dawning of a new golden age. Free from the strictly corporate concerns of EA, Garriot can go back to greenlighting unique titles like Ultima Underwold, Omega and Wing Commander.
The actualy make-up of Britannia has been so different from game to game that I wouldn't see it as any great loss. Ultima Underworld I&II and Ultima 8 succeeded brilliatly while pretty much ignoring Britannia lore.
The past few years have seen for the first time the widespread growth of online gaming. I'd consider that a pretty big developement in gameplay (and also in technology).
I am using Linux sir, and I resent the implication that I am doing otherwise... and I would like to see you disable my account. Your posturing is providing me with the same laughs you are enjoying. Please take your facist posts elsewhere.

Everything2 contains nodes that are deemed interesting by other people. Considering most of the users are male, I'd be more worried than please if I saw an entry for her on there;)
I think it's great that Linux has proved itself able to scale up to be able to encompass literally EVERYTHING that is of interest to my geeky compadres. I'm really convinced that everything2.com could indeed hold everything;) Keep up the good work Linux developers... it'd be a very dull and lifeless world with you.

On a (somewhat) related note, a paedophile was found murdered in Teeside in the UK yesterday. Once you've been labeled a paedophile, there is no hope for you - your life is over.

I was raped as a child.
:(
My shits always come out wider than they are long.

Who woulda thunk it? ;)
It's VirtualDub, not Virtuadub. And the homepage is here not virtuadub.org. Do the slashdot editors even click on the links submitted to them anymore?

If you don't like it, go up there and knock our flags down and put your own up.
The US flag planted by the Apollo 11 crew was blown down when the Eagle took off for Earth. You owned the moon for a few hours...

You're deluded if you think sexual feelings have no part in rape. If I wanted to hurt someone, I'd bloody their face, not gunk my dick in their fanny.
I think slashdot is actually intended for people with a modicum of intelligence.
