Vacuum energy is not free. it's not substantial. and harvesting it would be hard, since by definition it's the residual energy in empty space. Once you use up one areas vacuum energy, you have to move to another to get more.

The vast majority of things that go boom use nitrates of some sort. Sniffing for nitrates will detect 99% of all explosive materials. the remainder none nitrate based explosives often don't give much of a bang. They mroe or less are incidiaries. You can use a flamible arisol but your bang is much smalle,r and your more likely to just burn yourself them cause any significant damage. I suppose you could use hair spray as a flame thrower but I think they banned hairspray too.
It also suffers from the same flaw as other MMORPGs. Beginner areas quickly empty, and at the end you end up with all the people in high level zones (Or instances). This is however something that I have no idea how to fix.
You introduce a aging system. after x hours of play the character starts losing osme stats, and after 3x the character dies of old age. This will keep the entire community cycling. You may pass yoru items on but each char has a fintie life span.
Thanks for the advice on what websites I should visit, troll. And you can be a technical person with good, well-thought-out opinions without being elitist. Maybe you should try it out sometime, you'll be a lot happier and have some more friends.
I suppose you didn't see the irony inyrou own post.
"the funny part is how many mistakes this guy made writing such a short article"
That is not funny. Laughing at non-technical people for making technical mistakes is intellectually elitist, pompous and displays a bad sense of humor.
Sorry for being so harsh, but I hate it when nerds belittle non-nerds to make themselves feel better. Yes, this guy is a bad journalist - should it really be on the front page of slashdot though?
If you really dislike this then perhaps you shouldn't be on slashdot since it's a forumn of technical people who often display elitist behavior. I'd argue this is one of the most elitist communities on the net. Maybe you'd be mroe at hoem on myspace?
Actually, that bit of information is one of the biggest urban legends out there. The Sega Genesis was far superior to the SNES, the Mode 7 effects were nothing more than smoke and mirrors, as the processor could only perform those tasks on a sprite when the background is one solid colour, usually black. The Genesis had a superior processor. True the SNES had more colours than the Genesis, but the Genesis could keep up with the same number of colours while the SNES had trouble with flickering.
You've over simplified the comparison. The genesis has a better main processor but an inferior sound system and less colors. This meant that games could be slightly more complex and quicker but would also be less colorful and sounded poorer. Most genesis games also didn't take advantage of the extra proccessing power and ussually looked like a washed out version of the SNES version (if they both came out on the same console).
For many consumers the graphics and color were more important then "quick" gameplay or novelty vertex graphics.

Okay fine. But then don't complain when it isn't held as authoritative as Encyclopedia Britannica. I, for one, do not think a mass 'editorial review' is necessary. It would not remove all vandalism, but I bet it would drop a lot.
Wikipedia is about as correct as britanica is current.
The people who died in the nuclear blast and the resultant radiation did not deserve it. Japan however did. The society needed to be humbled and it actually could use some more humility. Japan is not some hapless victim. They were ruthlessly evil in their conquest of Asia. Most asian countries still hold a grudge against japan. Look at it this way, The JApanese were preparing for a conditional surrender. They meant to keep some of the land they conquered and bargain for the survival of their monarchy. This proccess would likly take months. In the course of those montsh thousands of JApanese and american soldiers would die, major centers in japan would continue to be bombed, and Japans rapist army would still be raping and pillaging in the few locatiosn they still held. As well the russians would be have pressed ever closer. The death toll would have been equal to the death toll of the two bombs but just more spread out and nations that are soverign may have remaind under Japanese control. A quicker end to war was preferable. The civillians deatsh regrettable and the blow to the JApanese psyche was well deserved and not nearly great enough for their crimes.
As others have already stated, this has absolutely nothing to do with Walmart. This applies to services such as CleanFlix, which are very popular in Utah and Idaho. I am a Mormon, and I frequent Cleanflix often. Some movies are very enjoyable, but contain bits that I don't wish to see. If the mainstream want to see those bits, fine, go ahead; these services are not for them. If I don't want to see it, how does it affect you? Cleanflix allows me to rent movies that I would not otherwise rent, they are now turning away a potential customer. This does not hurt the copyright holder, they still receive the full purchase price for all the movies that Cleanflix uses. Their revenue is not altered in any way by this editing.
Although it seems to be a anti-censorship win it's being fought for the sames reasons the MPAA and RIAA are into DRM. It's not jsut the revenue their tryign to protect but also limiting the ability for a customer to create a derivative work. Technical the CleanFix is creating a derivative work. They are also profiting of of the work of the major studios and they object to this. Since the edits they do make a derivative work and CleanFlix itself doesn't pay the MPAA for the rights to do so. The directors themselves also object artistically to having their works changed as they meant people to see it in a certain way.
Mark me troll if you like but the truth is Russia had a much larger effect on Germany then any single other member of the allies. If you look at the troop attrition on the eastern front you'll notice germany hurled themselves against russia and had most of their army smashed there. The Allies simply halted russia advance after. The giant myth that the US saved europe from germany in either world war is just that, a myth. In both wars, britian had a larger effect against germany then the Americans as even lowly canada did as much in WWII and much more in WWI then the US.
We saved you in World War II, so go to hell! If it weren't for us, you'd all be speaking German now!
Actually the russians saved europe from having speaking german now. The US/Britian just made it so a larger portion of europe dont' have to learn russian. You may want to look back and see how little the US actually did in either world war in the european theatre. Now the pacific theatre, that was all the Americans.
Ideologically speaking, the radical muslim sect want essentially what the radical christian conservatives want too. In light of that either the Radical christian right or the radical muslim faith dictating my foreign policy either through acts of terrorism or acts of US legislation is bad. My only hope is The US destroys all of radical islam but incurs so much debt they cease to be able to be a super power. The power brokers you guys put in charge are a scary lot of evil evil men. I can't beleive any sane populace would put such evil and incompetent crew in twice. It's like voting for massive debt, bad press, terrible foreign relations, and lack of internal security.
To clarify, While white is a part of the definition of the slang word, it's not a racial slur because it'd not race that determines the victim. It's their class and location. Chink refers to any asian regaurdless of what else they are but Redneck refers only to a subclass of poor rural folk or igrnorant conservative folk. The initial usage refered mainly to white rural folk however the meaning of the word has morphed into any rural minded convervative biggot. For instance I am chinese and my uncle is too, however many peopel refer to him as a red neck because he has very conservative and biggoted views. You could not how ever refer to him as a nigger. Since he is not black. If a term is no longer race specific can it be a racial slur? no. BTW this is slang. The definition of slang words run alogn common ussage. The word Fuck has about a dozen meanings when used as slang but is officially refers to intercourse. The word coolie is no longer in ussage btu refered to a subclass of immigrant workers and was a racial slur but is no longer since any labouring immigrant in china is now refered to as a coolie.
Actually it's most often been a legal contract between a man and the family of the bride. you stating a fairly modern idea of marriage.
Meh, true, but I feel the point still holds in the correct context.
I think thats the crux of the problem. Opponents of Gay marriage/civil union often state they're defending the tradition but the tradition isn't what they think it is. They are a purely reactionary group who aren't aware of the details. The whole issue is more of a red herring to keep a large section of the populace to vote against their economic and civil interests. Teh republicans in power now are neither fiscally conservative or "christians" in any real sense of the term but have done a great job of convincing conservative christian republicans that they represent them. They do not in any sense.
The term is slang, in the common usage it's a reference simply to a rural subclass. The definitions you state do refer to race btu location and attitude seem to be defining point and not race.
You mean they have the same pay range we do here? You contradict yourself.
One of yrou assertions was "competition" could fix this. It doesn't. They make the same roughly amount but the system is better funded. This means class sizes are smaller, there is more job security and the teacher have a more resources to work with. But in relative terms they are paid the same amount.
Why should anyone have to? As far as I can tell marriage has always been a religious process that acknowledges the monogomous relationship of a man and a woman. The problem is not in the definition of marriage, but the rights and benefits given by the state to married couples. Marriages should be recognized by the state as a form of civil union and given rights/benefits through that.
Actually it's most often been a legal contract between a man and the family of the bride. you stating a fairly modern idea of marriage.
#3: Dude, marriage means one thing, and changing it to mean a new thing is not something I approve. Let 'em get civil unions and change the laws to include benefits and visitation right to civil unions, instead of changing marriage, change the technicalities that make marriage a necessity.
Fuck, don't pigeonhole people in your lil' prejudiced categories just because they disagree with you on one issue.
P.S. Couldn't care less about the sanctity of marriage or any of that, it's been one thing since it has existed, and changing it is not a move. Ancient greeks weren't opposed to homosexuality, but they had the same meaning for marriage that we have now.
Yes, and god damn it it should remain a legally binding contract between a man and a brides family?
By that logic, neither is "towel-head" racist. After all, anyone could wear a towel on their head, right?
You "only minorities can be discriminated against" people crack me up.
The term redneck is commonly used to refer to anyone who is uncouth, and lacks civility or has an attitude commonly associated with rural peoples. Towel head is a derogatory term for someone who for commonly religious reasons wears a turban. Towel head is also not really a racist term as it is a religious derogatory term. Your point is moot.
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. This is spin pushed by the NEA and people fal for it year after year. Teachers' salaries are right in line with, and somewhat higher mostly, other professionals at their degree level. Far more than they deserve, considering teachers are consistently those who themselves performed the worst in school. I'm sure you've heard the expression "those who can't do, teach" and it's true here in spades. Perhaps if we start holding teachers accountable we'd attract teachers with work ethic and professional pride, rather than those who simply want to ride the NEA gravy train.
for a concrete example of why your reasoning is compelete bullshit look up the literacy rates in Canada , europe, Japan or Korea; look up the average salary of the teachers and look up how much "competition" there is. All those nations have a state run school system and pay average salaries (25k - 60k/ year). They just manage better due to not havign as much graft in their system and making teaching a better enviroment.
