The refit is the issue. The B-wing is not designed as a bomber, per se, thus needs the refit. Almost any of the ships in the SW galaxy could be refit to bomb, but only the Y-wing and the TIE Bomber are designed, specifically, to be bombers (using the movies as the basis - not other materials).

The title is Eats, Shoots & Leaves. The official site is here. Also, it is a book, not a short story or an article. Either underline it or put it in italics - do not put it in quotes. And where's the question mark?

Well, if you want to be picky:

    1) It's "English", not "english." The name of a language is a proper noun - ALWAYS.

    2) This is not a spoken medium. Thus, the question should be "Can you people write English?" There are still grammatical issues with that question, but I'm not going to go that far in-depth.

    3) Electronic Arts is the name of a single company. Thus, yes, it is correct to say that "EA has yet to respond." However, in the case of, let's say, the Beatles, it would be "The Beatles have yet to respond" because "the Beatles" is referring to multiple individuals. The "Arts" in "Electronic Arts" is not referring to multiple entities.

Do you have any further questions?

I'm not arguing that the teams who work on sports titles are any less busy, if not busier, than teams who work on non-sports titles. But, it has always been my opinion that, for titles that come out every year, it is insane to think that any but the most diehard fans are going to pay $49.99 for Madden every year. What if you are into Madden, NBA Live and FIFA? That's a $150/year investment (more after sales tax)... you can buy another console for that much! That is why I have always bought the last season's sports titles at deep discounts ($19.99 or even $9.99 in many cases).

Now, if Sega's pricing takes hold, it would be great to get the regular sports titles (not things like EA Big titles, of course) for a total of $60/per year and have this season's games. I like the idea and I applaud Sega for doing it (even if it was out of desperation). I like the ESPN games and think Sega has a lot to contribute to the market (though I would not argue that EA doesn't have better overall games in this area). It's about time this happened...

No, you aren't expected to know everyone. No one is asking you to. But if you want to work in this industry you do have to know who people, especially loudmouthed idiots like Dvorak, are. You want to know why?

Because those are the columnists your bosses read. They are the ones who shape what business managers dream about late at night. Thus, when they come in to your departmental meeting, talking about the fact that they know what's going on in the "industry" - they read Dvorak, after all - you know how to argue with them.

Japan is the key to winning this sector. Microsoft has to seriously break into Japan's game market first, but the Xbox is not ever going to catch fire there. Myabe the Xbox Next, but not this one.

But, with Sony in the market, with Nintendo not backing down, and with MS not becoming more geocentric, the game market is still up for grabs... MS has great potential to fail here. And they have before.... many times before.

Cringely noted that IT pundits, like himself and Dvorak, simply have to make the prediction and let it loose - but they don't blast it. That way, if they are wrong, very few people know about it. If they are right, they can go on for years about how they predicted the end of the Xbox, Apple, etc.

But there is no remote or display for the AirTunes, so I can't control things without going to the computer. I can use Bluetooth (my Belkin adapter has a 100 ft. range) and my Palm Tungsten T... hmmm. But I still don't get a playlist display. Can't change the playlist that's currently on, either.

I could buy a Keyspan remote... but a 40 ft. range and RF is not the best way to go, IMHO.

Why do I see a small" iTablet" in Apple's future? About the size of a Palm, stylus or touch controlled, with the ability to pick up shared iPhoto libraries and to control AirTunes wirelessly? Maybe even include some of the Newton's handwriting recognition since Mac OS X has the Inkwell technology in place...

I think AirTunes is a Apple putting their toe in the water to see what feedback they get. The PDA/tablet rumors may actually be tied more to the digital hub than to actual portable computing...

The Y-wings were used by the Rebellion in all three movies - they are the ones with the two large engines and needs an astromech (R2, R5, etc.) unit. The B-wing was only used in ROTJ, and has the anti-grav cockpit that allows the ship's main wing to rotate freely and does not need an astromech.

Of those two, only the Y-wing is used as a bomber - heavy defenses, not a whole lotta speed. The B-wing is used for fast strikes in space and isn't practical in planetary atmospheres.

Many of the failed consoles (the TurboGrafx, NeoGeo, 3DO, etc.) in the past could say that they were "stronger now than it's ever been" and die very quickly after that. If you do not have a strong launch, like the PS2, or strong franchises, like Nintendo, then you really have to make up for it quickly. It's been almost three years since release and only now are we starting to see Xbox games that people talk about other than Halo and KOTOR. Not so good.

The fact that MS is losing major money on the Xbox, has been pulling back on its marketing, and has more than few analysts calling for them to cut projects like the Xbox means that it is very possible, within a year, the Xbox will be no more and the Xbox Next will never make it past development stage.

I'm not denying the attractiveness of the Xbox but, to be fair, it has not caught on the way a console has to by this point of its lifecycle.
